Mux inside SaviHost = standalone?

I know the answer is to DL the demo and try it but figured maybe someone will have already done this? Will it / does it work? Any reason to think it wouldn't? I just want a way to quickly open Mux and create presets to use later in my Daw w/o actually always having to open/run my full Daw every time. Not a huge deal one way or the other but it would be nice and probably be the tipping point for me to go ahead and make the Mux buy.... thanks for any input.

Hmmm, good idea... was trying to go as light as footprint as possible but I guess I don't need to be obstinate about. My main daw is Sonar which to open just to host Mux while I work on some presets seems overkill. MuLab Free might be a good compromise in between SaviHost and Sonar. Thanks.mutools wrote:Why not use MuLab Free for that?

Most of MuLab is the Mux library, really, if you compare the size of the two installations. MuLab comes with the advantage of being cross-platform (cfr Mux) and having more routing possibilities than I remember SaviHost having last time I looked.

Yeah, if I understand SaviHost correctly it just wraps a single vsti so it becomes an icon you click and a small container opens with just the wrapped vsti showing. So other then audio/midi in and audio out, which is passed directly to the wrapped plug, SaviHost doesn't really do any routing. But I totally might be mis-remembering (dl'ed and used it a few times long ago)...pljones wrote:Most of MuLab is the Mux library, really, if you compare the size of the two installations. Just a follow up in case anyone else is interested... I dl'ed SaviHost and the Mux demo and gave it a go. It seems to work well once you get it set up properly (which on my test system involved asio4all and consequently wasn't super straight forward). There is an additional benefit in that SaviHost has a feature where it'll feed a wave file into the audio in of whatever plug it's wrapping so you can (for instance) record a guitar clip and then play the looped wave file and tweak until you get the sound you want. Anyway, pretty handy so far and a workaround for anyone wanting/needing standalone functionality...

Note that you could also feed an audio file (or MIDI sequence) into a MUX using MuLab Free. Just mentioning. If you feel more comfortable with using SaviHost, that's OK too of course.

Yeah, just wanted to see if it'd work and nice to essentially have an icon on the desktop that when clicked launches into (or appears to launch into) Mux directly. But I get your point for sure and may end up going that way in the end anyway assuming I buy Mux here soon. Will just have to see what the free limitations are though from a cursory look it appears there would be nothing in the way of the stuff I'm trying to do. Thanks again... also, very cool looking products by the way.
