Bye bye for now
Satin feature suggestion.

Hi! I'm an avid user and a fan of Satin, it's a great sound-shaping toolbox. But there's a feature I'm really missing, the ability to link Rec and Repro EQ under Circuit section; what I mean is that if I change one of the two the other should, if linked, change too (for example from IEC 15 ips to NAB) so I could audition them. What do you think? Is it feasible?

With the upcoming v1.2, there'll be one more knob in the service panel, which was already hard to squeeze in. My feeling is we've reached the limit with the current UI layout, although Basti has the last word on this (and he's very picky, naturally). Your suggestion is a good one, nonetheless, and we've also considered that for the compander section a while ago. We might have a chance to think about it once Bazille and Presswerk are through.

Maybe a 'same' menu option in the Repro menu? Works for Bazille oscillator waveforms

This would work great.xh3rv wrote:Maybe a 'same' menu option in the Repro menu? Works for Bazille oscillator waveforms

Yes, that would be a really nice feature!

Wow, that would be fantastic; doesn't affect the GUI in any way.xh3rv wrote:Maybe a 'same' menu option in the Repro menu? Works for Bazille oscillator waveforms
EDIT: Oops, semi-necroing the thread

A Dolby SR emulation in the compander would be very nice. Maybe a Dolby HX Pro also.
And I´d like to see more very accurate presets of real existing recorders. A more precise Ampex 124, better than the existing one. And a very precise Nagra T Audio TA TC preset.

A clone of something real wasn't in the scope of the plugin initially. However, we also offered some presets to mimic real-world devices. But we can only offer 'accuracy' with something we directly or indeirectly have access to.PCSRKS wrote:And I´d like to see more very accurate presets of real existing recorders. When you speak of accuracy, may I assume you already know these devices and have access to them? In case you can get hands on the 124 or the Nagra, feel free to send in presets.
With Satin, there are many degrees of freedom for emulating a specific machine. Most of the times, dialing in the available technical params already gets you quite close. But the closer you want to get, the harder things become. Apart from thorough listening, I recommend using special test sounds, measurement tools and null tests. The latter is hard to do because you have frequency, amplitude and phase.
Let me recommend this thread:
"u-he's tape-plugin test file suite (used during Satin dev, originally)"

There you might have everything to get started. We'd love to listen to more machines emulated by the community.
