Finally! Yesterday I released this as an album! I decided to go "indy" and release it on CD Baby. (I won't provide the link here for fear it would make this post seem too much like spam.) One really nice thing about CD Baby is that they offer FLAC downloads.
I've made quite a few changes to my arrangement since I posted here about it almost two years ago. I incorporated advice from Neil Arthur Williams, who is an authority on "The Planets". I also touched up the mastering, and worked in a few Bazille sounds here and there (how's that for early adoption!?).
Thanks again for all of your generous feedback! Also thanks to Urs and U-he for creating the best software synths in the world, and to Howard, Michael Cavallo, Jozsef Hollo, and 3ee for creating fantastic sounds for U-he synths (sorry that I've omit other great sound designers, but these are the ones who's sounds I used the most).

Planets has a special place in my heart too... your version is fantastic
I wouldn't have believed Id have liked a synthesised version, inspirational work.

Congratulations, Mike. Clearly this was a labor of love. If by this time you're not sick of Holst, how about a synth orchestration of Beni Mora (the Oriental Suite)? That one happens to be my favorite Holst. I kind of got somewhat burned out on The Planets in college - it was one of the few pieces of symphonic "classical" that my stoner friends would ever get excited about.
