So, are the real serial numbers out or do we continue using the "initial" one?

Updated MuLab 6.0.28 available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/forsythia/
If you have installed M6.0.24 or up you can use the small zip package to only update the .app/.exe and .ID files.
Otherwise install the complete zip package of +- 18 MB.
What's changed since M6.0.27:

What's changed since M6.0.27:
- In some cases, when editing a marker via the "Edit" context menu, the composition/sequence loop was not properly updated. Fixed.
- In some cases looped audio parts were not looping correct at the start of the loop. Fixed.
- Fixed a prob when zooming the envelope editor when it was more vertical than horizontal.
- When scrolling full down in the sequence editor, there was a little mismatch between the piano keyboard on the left and the editor. Fixed.

Really cool how fast you fix all those issues
That's the advantage of working alone, you know your software inside out.
Btw, regarding your update instructions, I never quite understood why you use the word "install" as nothing gets installed in the case of Mulab imho. Which is also why there is nothing to uninstall. Basically it's just copy and delete
Actually, isn't that one of the big advantages of Mulab, that there is no need to install anything and that hence you can run it on any computer just like that, unlike Sonar or Cubase?

Although it's a manual process of copy and paste, it's still an install, only not through an installer

To me in the computer world installing means registering a program in the registry etc. Kind of anchoring it in the operating system so to speak.Nielzie wrote:Although it's a manual process of copy and paste, it's still an install, only not through an installer
Basically Mulab is just like a VST dll you just copy to your VST folder. Nobody would say the dll was installed.

Install just means dump the software onto the box and make any necessary changes to be able to use it, whatever they are. A new full release of MuLab, for me, means I have to rename the old directory, unzip and copy over the new directory, enter my user key. That's it. It's still an install. Similarly, if I get a new VST dll, I have to copy it into where I want it and tell the programs that I want to use it that it's there. That's installing. The mere act of making a new piece of executable code available means that code is installed. If it's not available, then it's not installed. It might be in the wrong place, for example (i.e. just cutting and pasting isn't enough -- it has to end up in the right place).

I think Mulab is a portable application, and as such not installed:

Hi... I have a question about the bottom tray...
-If you click on the rack icon on the Compose Section and the Rack appears, it also appears at the bottom as a gray button. If you click to minimize the rack... it goes back to the bottom button. If you click the gray button the rack opens back up, but if you click the gray button again it doesn't minimize the rack... the rack closes.
I just wanted to see if that was by design or if it should minimize the rack again. For me... it would be great for that gray button to minimize the rack instead of closing it when you hit it a second time.
For me I prefer keeping the mixing desk closed and just being able to open and close individual racks from those bottom gray buttons if that's possible....
Obviously I can also just click on the rack icons on the track, but since there are buttons that open at the bottom, it would be cool to use those if possible...
hope that makes sense... thx...

Hmm... Yeah I noticed that and found it a bit inconvenient at times.
Perhaps those grey buttons should have the same windows functions as other MuLab windows? ie Minimise/Restore and Close.
Could you change the default behaviour for opening a Rack using the track button to single-click (or give option to change it for those that like current double-click)

Quite. It gets installed but in a way that does not modify the computer's configuration information. I don't think anyone is disputing it is a portable install.wikipedia wrote:without being installed in a way that modifies the computer's configuration information.

M6 Tip: If you have M5 sessions using the MuDrum where the notes are not in the C3-C4 range and so outside the key name range in M6, then here is a handy way to get the notes on the right key:
1) Right-click the left side key -> "Select All These Notes".
2) In the property panel click the arrow down button of the key field.
3) Select the target drum name from the popup list.
4) Select none and go to step 1 for other any other keys.
Also handy if you import some MIDI drum sequence and want to match it to an existing MuDrum setup.
Cheers!

That's the point. If a way of putting a program on, say, a hard drive does not lead to it being registered on the computer (registry etc.), it is not an installation to begin with. I don't know what it is called, but Mulab is certainly not installed on my USB drive. That is also why it says in the link "Some applications are available in both installable and portable versions." They exclude each other.pljones wrote:fluffy_little_something wrote:I think Mulab is a portable application, and as such not installed:

Well, it is not important, anyway. If people don't care about those distinctions, ok. Because of my job I have to be a quibbler, which is why I stumble upon such things, and also odd text and labels in Mulab...

No, they don't. That's poor phrasing and worth editing the page on wikipedia to correct if you feel like quibbling about it.fluffy_little_something wrote:That is also why it says in the link "Some applications are available in both installable and portable versions." They exclude each other...
