did the same thing just recently.. but i went for the cinnamon desktop.. works really well too.. i also swapped out the kernel for a lowlatence one, to get quite nice latencies and stuff.. using the kxstudio repositories (http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Repositories), it's just a "sudo apt-get install linux-lowlatency" awayThomasHelzle wrote:I recently deleted Ubuntu Studio and went for Mint Mate 17 which I prefer a lot.
Seems to work great so far with BWS.

@ CCRMA the latest Kernel is 3.12. I am looking for a newer one, like 3.15 or so.
or any idea how to create a low-latency-kernel on my own ?

I think CCRMA has a guide for it. You, basically, need to apply some patches.
Also, you should read the guide to a low-latency Fedora. It states that modern kernels do not require the patches to get really low latencies.

Actually, you are saving up for the new, improved, all singing & dancing
Super Steroidal Bitwig Renich edition, which is far better than
the current release.
It won't be ready until you are, but it's baking in the oven

By the way, Beerhunter, I'd like to share this with you:
http://fpaste.org/118918/65573314/
It is the scripts I use to build and publish bitwig on my mega account.
You need to build and install megacmd first: https://github.com/t3rm1n4l/megacmd/
It is pretty straight forward. Just remember to register your megacmd with the right credentials.
Then, after that, the procedure to build and publish your newest bitwig build is just to
- Update the version on the spec file
- Run publish-bitwig
It will build and upload.
Let me know if you need additional help for it.
Also, this script is for anybody who wants to help/use the script for any purpose.

Hi Renich,
thanks, i still like the "old" way, cause it´s easier to check which files are outdated, and which not. (I created on folder for the outdated once.)
Thanks anyway.

This is a bit off-topic, but funny. Ubuntu crushing 0Sex in some benchmarks,
but immediately, the discussion turns into an age-old skirmish
about naming conventions
Like winning the World Cup, and then fighting over which brand of soccer ball
is roundest. At least here, linux folks are helping each other,
and all agree that emacs is better than vi
