Bitwig is really quite nice for its first version. :D

Having said that, here are the top 5 things I cannot live without:

1. Change time signature and tempo.

2. Cross-fade between clips (could be said fade in and out of clips). A video showing the interesting way that Tracktion does this -

3. Ability to name sections of an arrangement. Seems like this would be needed to make #1 possible anyway.

4. Stereo width and pan controls on the channel strips.

5. Better automation editing - see http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 9&t=416048

Also, these are extremely important and have already been talked a bunch of time. It also appears that the developers have plans to do something for each:

- Track grouping
- VST multi-out
- Slip editing - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 9&t=415832

You can make crossfades, there is a workaround:
send two channels to an audio track and use the layer FX device. Assign 1 and -1 the volume level for the two layers on a macro knob.

if there would be a XY shaper for the macros you could do equal power crossfades!

If you hit alt+shift+c in the arrange you can view the marker lane? Maybe that helps.

Thank you Ogopogo and crazyfiltertweaker. :D Your suggestions are helpful to me.

Having said that, the problems that these things not being built into the interface in a simple, intuitive way is that it slows me down when tracking. I do think that the five things I listed would really help me if implemented in a useful manner.

The marker lane is a good start, but I was thinking more along the lines of something like Regions in Reaper.

Bitwig is really quite nice for v1, it is just missing these five things. Of course, there are other things I would like *eventually*, like something similar to FL Studio's patcher -

But, I suppose that is something I can live without for a while.

Ability to turn off devices completely so they don't use CPU.
Ability to turn on/off devices from mix views (like in Logic).
Chase long notes/events.
A keyboard shortcut to show/hide all automation lanes at once.
ReWire support.

Post

1)Ability to add your own keyboard shortcuts to existing ones.
2)Rewire.
3)In-depth Drum Synth, kinda like Waldorf Attack/Ultrabeat

Post

1)Freeze function
2)The ability to use combination of CTRL+E on the audio grid, similiar to ableton. cause switching from arrow to knife tool all the time..and then back so u could move pieces..kinda awkward to me. i know that i can easily do it in the edit window but its not the same. Really, guys, make ctrl+e working when using arrow tool!
3)Chocking in drum machine
4)grooves
5)Replace button so u could replace samples either in sampler or on the audio grid.

p.s. im buying bitwig this weekend i think. im sold. i love it.

Easy-swap style compositing like in Logic.

You can change the tempo:
Master Track -> Automation -> Transport -> Tempo

This one is more for the future:

If you use FXpansion GEIST in studio one you can see the note names! Also in BW.
BUT! When you use multi channel/tracks in SO (channel, engine 1-8) the midi channels also rename the keys with the corresponding engine pads!
i looked it up on internet they call it effGetMidiKeyName ???????????????? Im not a programmer so its hokus pokus for me.
I think its one of the neatest thing i use in SO.

 OH and do something about the renaming of drumpads in drummachine... rightclik: rename or something like that? sometimes you just have to click the pad twice before you can do ctrl R.. :)

Ho... edit... and double height per track.... :D

1) an option to automatically update changes made to clips stored in your library, also the ability to disable automatic
updates.

Multi outs
Pre-roll for clips

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where???? still on ableton

Post

1) Ability to drag and drop samples from browser into VST plugins on Windows 8 (Harmor, Groove Machine, samplers etc)
2) PREV / NEXT loading of samples in sampler (or quick hot swap function / sample selector)
3) Less clumsy piano roll ( single click to add / right click to delete - drag to erase a bunch of notes) - editing note velocties / timbre etc is a bit clumsy with overlapping notes
4) Remember last browser state when opening new projects
5) PDC for browser (loops play out of time when syncing to track)

This list is not including the stuff that is already in progress (vst multi outs etc..)

-ability to create folders within the library

I have over 50 plus clips most of them are midi, leads, basses etc, various song ideas made whilst using the demo, wana organize them in their individual folders, currently bitwig's clip folder is a mess, need the ability to create folders within bitwig, would make organizing my clips a lot easier, I know I could just go to the folder and create various folders, that's to cumbersome, I think that should be an essential feature, it's the little things that add to a great daw.

^An alternative to that is being able to add our own tags to clips, samples, and maybe even devices. Then just search for the tag and you see everything, and one thing can fit into multiple categories instead of a single folder.
