Can I just manually move my Miroslav, Sonik Synth 2 and Expansion Tanks files from my 32 bit computer to my 64 bit studio computer then run the Import Function ? Or is this what is causing the errors above ? I'm in no hurry as I'm still having lots of fun with the ST3 content.........

Guess that's why I'm not in supportmusic247 wrote:Hi Peter,Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Forgive me if I missed you verifying this previously, but have you installed at least the first sound library installer? It is covered in this FAQ too http://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/3646music247 wrote:Well I removed SonikSynth2\I Elements B\G Groove Elements\130BPM_ailing.sti from the folder but still get the error message boost::filesystem::remove when I try to import. Sometimes it's around the middle of the import, sometimes near the beginning, sometimes towards the end. Same thing happens when I try to import Miroslav Philharmonik.
If this does not help (or you've already done so) please let support know at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support and they will help you.
Yes I've installed the Sampletank 3 sounds and all work fine. You will notice at the link you provided that the error refers to boost::filesystem::create_directories and not boost::filesystem::remove
I contacted support yesterday and haven't received a reply as yet. As good as Sampletank 3 is, one of the main selling points to me was to be able to import Sonik Synth 2 and Miroslav Philharmonik and use them in a 64 bit environment. After endless re-installing, moving, deleting files and renaming etc this is just not happening.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
Cheers

You should be able to import the moved files, just make sure you move your whole directory structure for your sounds. I was able to pull mine from an external hard drive so I didn't move them (well, technically I did physically move them with the whole drive hehe) but there's no other system files or anything that should be required so I'd say it is a safe bet to move them then import. Just don't move them into the same directory structure you are importing into, as that could cause some weirdness I'd imagine. /recursion is no fun.Teksonik wrote:Can I just manually move my Miroslav, Sonik Synth 2 and Expansion Tanks files from my 32 bit computer to my 64 bit studio computer then run the Import Function ? My idea was to move the entire Sonik Synth folder and it's subfolders intact to the new ST3 file location then try to import. That sound about right ? Or should I just move the SS folder to somewhere on the same drive then import ?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Just don't move them into the same directory structure you are importing into, as that could cause some weirdness I'd imagine. /recursion is no fun.
If I'm reading other posts correctly the files will be rebuilt so the old folders can then be deleted or moved to storage ?

My recommendation is emphasized above. And you are right, after import the old folders can be deleted or moved to storage. I'd make sure to have them backed up somewhere, personally.Teksonik wrote:My idea was to move the entire Sonik Synth folder and it's subfolders intact to the new ST3 file location then try to import. Not for me. And support wasn't helpful either...Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I know that Miroslav import has been going smoothly so I'm sure they can help you.

I guess that's why they posted screenshots of the "smooth import" process, rather than video as requested by some forum members. So you couldn't see how buggy the import process still is.

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

I installed v3 last night with no issues appart from the 1 rogue ss2 file mentioned in this thread,
Everything imported smooth that was in my legacy st2 folder.
I imported Miroslav, SS2, various old IK and SR expansion tanks including any multis without a hitch.
I set everything up in the standalone version.
Mac OSX 10.8.5

For those getting the boost::filesystem::remove error message when importing Sonic Synth, try disabling your antivirus and firewall software. After spending the last two days trying everything else, I disabled them on a hunch and both Sonic Synth and Miroslav finally imported without a hitch. I wish that was the first thing I tried, it would've saved me a lot of grief!
Worth a try if you're having trouble.

Thank you for your suggestion. That was it. I disabled Aviras real-time protection and was able to import SampleMoog successfully...
Explanation: ST3 imports legacy instruments by (1) extracting them first into a temp directory, (2) packing those files into .pak and instrument ones and (3) removing these temp files and directory. Now, if some process in the background (like ie. an antivirus prog) holds these files open ST3 cannot delete them and it simply drops this boost::filesystem::remove error and stops the import process. So, disabling the real-time protection simply work-arounded the problem by not holding those files open...
And of course it does not matter whether you have any sample packs installed or not, because this legacy import process generates any needed directories automatically.

Yeah, but strange that paying custommers have to debug the program to be able to use it, and that their support only gives you meaningless "automatical" instructions like you have to install all samples packs first. What clearly wasn't the case like shown above...
