I think you have to be careful when considering developing a plugin drum machine. Tremor and Punch came out around the same time a few years ago, and though they have their fans, the reaction to them has been lukewarm overall. Even the drum machines in Maschine Studio haven't gotten the reaction I expected.

Now maybe the problem is that you can't make a software drum machine that pleases everyone. Or that you'll never get gushing reactions unless it's an accurate emulation of a classic like the 808.

Is it actually possible that, since so many people use samples, you're left with a small but super demanding audience for drum synthesis plugins?

Anyway, I doubt that is what would dissuade Urs and Co. I think a more pertinent way to go about this thread is to directly ask him if he's actually interested in drum synthesis in the first place. If he isn't I'd doubt a U-He drum machine is high on their to-do list.

Knowix, I think you are right. I think that by far, the most just use samples for drums. To me synthesis is more fun although I use samples on occasion, but never ever for kick drums. I like synthesising them far too much. But everybody has their own taste and preference of course. I can imagine some people rather spending their time on other stuff than synthesising drum sounds.

It's great fun though. I have spend so much time on it that my other area's of synthesis; leads, pads, bass, melody etc. are far behind in comparison
