Change default font without style editor - possible?

I'm afraid not. It's not that simple. You can use MTexturedStyleEditor for that though:

Anyway, it's not so hard to change the font in MTexturedStyleEditor ^^ (lol what a big name :p )

Thats true, but i managed to set the few options i need for now without the MTexturedStyleEditor. For the fonts, i just edited the SystemFonts.cache file. Maybe not the cleanest way to do it, but it works so far. For the colors, i changed them in the StyleSettings_Minimalisticpresets.xml file (i always use the "Minimalistic" style for all my Melda-Plugs). Now i always have my desired base colors (to match Maschine) with just some little color accents and the font i like. 
I had a play with MTexturedStyleEditor, it is very powerful but also very...challenging. Maybe i'll give it another try some day, should be fun to create a own style (if you know how to do it).

Well, yes, that should do the trick, but I'd suggest backing the files up, just in case, so you don't need to hack in the future as well

The style editor is now actually equipped with lots of presets, so at the end, you will probably just be loading presets..

M textured is challenging for to make big change but for to change only the font it takes 2 clicks
