what the hell is that? well, it's two new building block components! Finally, the building blokcs have a slightly more practical use with these new comps. The accumulator can be used to advance a value on per sample basis. This in turn can be used to position the playhead in the sampler. What does that mean? all sorts of esoteric biz... you have full control over the playback head on the sampler. It goes where ever you tell it... forward, reverse, jumping, whatever speed, etc. You can make it loop between the in and out markers.. and then you can make the in and out markers move as well by having them advance their position by being attached to yet another accumulator. Make the in and outs real small, then attach the in/outs to an new accumulator, and you've got a dirty granular sampler. Lots of fun stuff I tell ya!

I'm finishing up a step_trigger building block, that when used with the above will let you build a beat slicer with the rack filters. Oh boy, good times for those not scared of the racks! :) Sorry, I'm a bit excited..

RACKS ROCK! Stay tuned...

This is indeed a good suggestion - how about a sticky FAQ for Tracktion Extensions ? (As opposed to VSTs)

I'm not sure Niall will do this anymore - the last time
you mac-boys cried for a port and Niall did it rarely anyone (except ModuLR) could be bothered to even say 'thanks' to him

edited: I was wrong, sorry

Niall at first posted his port in ModuLR's thread which you mac-boys probably skipped because you thought there's nothing in it for you.

Then when he made an update he started a new thread for it, which I skipped because there was nothing in it for me....

FWIW I wouldn't mind porting these to mac, but I'm pretty busy at the moment with university stuff and trying to finish Buffer Synth 2 (which actually does a lot of the stuff these two building blocks seem to do, though in a less modular (or ModulR ) way).

For those confused, this is a low level sampler VST geared toawrds modular type environments. Basically, it's not much more than a sample player. However, it rely's on other building blocks to tell it what to do. It won't play anything unless you tell it where to go. That is where the accumulator comes into play. The accumulator is like a fancy counter.. where you can tell it how much to count by (pitch), when to wrap the count back around, and in what direction to count (forwards, backwards, etc). For every sample, it performs a count function. When you take the output from the accumulator and plug it into the sampler... it will tell the sampler the exact position it should be playing, etc.

I dunno if that explains much... but it should be good fun for the tweakers and more experimental types.
