Hi, I just watched the video and when slicing up the drum loop it took out all the feel from the groove and seemed to quantize to a rigid 16th grid.

Is there a way to extract the groove from a loop and apply that to the offsets ?

Hi,

I'm afraid it cannot automatically "extract groove" and modify the sections, you can do that manually of course.

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply but that would be impossible :-)

An idea for a update "reel feel sequencing"

Well, I started thinking about it and quite frankly I think what you want is impossible! Simple reason - imagine you simply half the bar, but not in the exact middle, then the 2 halves will have different length! So you cannot for example just repeat the first one 2x, because there would be discontinuity!

So I'm afriad, start making straight rhythms, or you cannot take advantage of the rhythmizing :D.

Turn off x axis snapping on the time graph and you can swing your stutters however you like. You will have to dial it in by ear but you can select all the even numbered sixteenth notes and move them together to match to the swing ratio you are using/ have. If it's a live recording it'll have to all be done manually but can still be done. I've used this when doing some vocal mangling in the past week.

Thanks, but with ableton I have no need to do all that.

You do if you want to do it to a live audio stream.
