IKM SampleTank 3 (ST3) Now Available

Sweetwater just called me and told me my SampleTank 3 boxed order will now be expected first week of September instead of first week of August! After all the other many other delays for this product, another month delay for the boxed version? That is pretty bad!

We haven't changed our date, I'll let our rep that handles Sweetwater know that's what you are being told so he can look into it. I know we have the disks only version shipping at that time (dang it, another thing I left out in my "digest" post!) - a version with no serial but the sounds on disk for a smaller fee as had been requested - so perhaps there was some mixup or confusion around that.

Was told by my sweetwater rep today that IK did a switcheroo on that shipping date. Clearly, Peter, your conversation with your Sweetwater handler didn't hit home.

Just out of curiousity, is it hard to burn the downloaded files onto multiple dual-layer DVDs? Is there any natural way to partition the sample library for this purpose? If not, it would be awfully sweet of IK to offer downloads in ISO form. Just sayin'

I understand that you feel that way and in no way minimize it. However, your request has been sent to the appropriate people so it is now in their hands at least, if it weren't then it wouldn't have a chance of getting implemented. Thank you for sending it in.

Currently. By the time ST3's price goes up, the price will also go up on Komplete. Also, anyone who's bought any IK product in the past qualifies for the $199 Crossgrade. When you consider the thousands of people who purchased $25 IK plugins during the many promotions and group buys, this is a really great deal for them. Even now, someone could buy Amplitube Slash for $49 and instantly qualify to get the Crossgrade for $199 more. Finally, we give a much bigger discount in cart with IK than we do with NI and so the price will end up being ⅓ Komplete's price when all's said and done.

btw, most people want to buy software as downloads and Komplete is only available boxed.

I pre-ordered ST3, I installed it, it works flawlessly, I'm quite chuffed by it. I'm glad I pre-ordered it. I'd also buy it at full price if I didn't already own a licence. Some people are going to be unhappy regardless. If you walked on water, they'd say it was because you never learned to swim.

Ok, I went into my HS2 (HAlion Sonic 2)and dug a little deeper, since so many people were going gaga over it, maybe I was missing something..
Loaded up a Keyswitching Bass patch (Wirefinger). The control that you have over each keyswitch is nice (Amp/Filter/etc.), you can really customize your sound... But then I loaded up an ST3 bass patch against it... The ST3 sounded more real and full... It is just a better sound.

I read this and decided to test what you are saying.... didn't load the specific bass you had mentioned, but went thru a few j basses and acoustic basses on halion 5 vst st3, and to be fair and honest you are right..... The basses are much better (the ones I played anyway) on ST3 than HS2/H5. But I would never go for a bass on HS to being with ( I play bass and if I want a sampled bass, either Trilian or Kontakt gives me much better options)....But I just want to be honest and say that I do agree with you.

edit: I just compared the drums side by side of ST3 and HS2/H5, and although I never use drums from HS2/H5, the few kits I just tried out are much much better in Halion than ST3 imho....

However the sounds I do use....... synths, strings, brass, mute guitars, guitar arpeggios, voices, pianos, clavinets etc..........HS2 are miles ahead sonically imho.

Ah.. noticed that you do have control over 'each' keyswitch articulation in ST3.. One can really customize how that articulation is played by accessing the Round Robin section on the Edit page.. Really nice..

That's very nice of you to say! Please let me know soon if you want a boxed version, I haven't ordered any yet because I thought people would prefer downloads but this thread is making me question that.
