Can anyoune give me a push start on how delay compensation works in tracktion.

I've created 2 identical step child sequences triggering drumatic22. One track plays kick, one plays hihat.

All ok so far

Now if I add the SIR reverb to the hihat track, I get a delay which is approx 1/4 second. When I highlight the track, the auto-advance button is selected and a time of 203.1 seconds is displayed.

It doesn't make any noticable difference to the delay wether the auto-advance button is selected or not. Manually changing the advance time amount doesn't seem to do anything either.

What's going on here?

:bang:

Lol (as in Laurence)

pdc can't get rid of the delay, what it does is delay all the other tracks so that they match the delay introduced by SIR.

The upshot is that your entire edit will play 'late' but in time.

Ok but regardless of how it should actually achieve sync...it doesn't work on my system. The track with the SIR reverb is 1/4 second late no matter what I do the auto advance settings.

Any clues??

you shouldn't be doing anything with auto advance. Leave auto advance enabled on *every* track.

Do you have SIR inside a rack? PDC fails inside rack filters.

Don't use the wet/dry controls in Tracktion with SIR - you'll need to set the wet mix inside SIR itself.

Odd. It certainly should work, just as Valley says.

And the "time of 203.1 seconds" is I would think, 203.1 millseconds (just over 1/5 of a second).
DarkStar, ... Interesting, if true

Milliseconds indeed.

This is really puzzling me

I've tried stepchild both in an audio track and as a normal filter.

Oh well back to the Classic verb it is.

Would this not completely fix the rack adding delay issue?

a.With auto advance enabled on each track with any number of racks in series on the same track.

OR

b.With auto advance enabled on each track and racks on *different* tracks.

In both instances the auto andvance feature should delay all the tracks by the same amount of delay introduced by using more than one rack.

Yes :) or No ? It sounds good in theory Valley but my guess is your theory on this matter is better than mine :? ..will it work? 8)

not sure which rack pdc problem you are referring to.

you can certainly set your own delay values manually to provide racks with prooper compensation (at least until Jules adds auto calculate to racks).

You can't get rid of the delay caused by racks themselves though. That is my biggest problem with racks. One set of racks in my edit is fine, I merely double my system latency. Two or more though and I feel like I'm playing a church organ.

I tried once to force the racks to work with zero delay, and to a degree it seems to work, but weird things start to happen pretty quickly. :(

Thanks Valley...I know problems with Racks has been discussed before...I just wanted to know if the auto advance feature could solve the Rack delay issue, and by the look of your post...

"You can't get rid of the delay caused by racks themselves though. That is my biggest problem with racks. "... the answer is no.

It is not a showstopper but it would be nice if Tracktion V.2 does not have this problem my guess is Jules will fix it.

Thanks anyway Valley. 8)
