On paper, yes. In reality jobless people even are forced to work for 88 CENT per hour...

But I cannot elaborate it here, I don't want to end in HPC...

Hmmmm, that's not something that's ideal in a synth that wants to be an educator.

I mean, how do you explain that inconsistency to a student.

If starting out with Basic, and then moving on to more complex synth later, the student would have to unlearn what s/he had learnt with Basic in that regard

I think that Sylenth would be good to learn on, but it would be too expensive for the educational market.

Sylenth is probably too much for beginners. And it doesn't have PWM, either, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, but then again, maybe I am just too stupid

For beginners I don't think I would pick a synth that got a display (except for displaying the live waveform, which would actually be helpful) and a modulation matrix.

which is very similar conceptually and architecturally ( a bit more flexible with the sample capable 2nd osc) and the price you mentioned - it has an awesome ZD filter and an extra vowel filter too
