well, i don't find them realistic (try playing anything fast - machine gun galore!), but i find them good enough for sketching purposes. while they aren't quite on the level of BFD et al, they're surely miles better than anything ST2.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

So, effectively, we are resigning ourselves to: hey, it doesn't totally suck, right?!
Actually, I'm quite fine with that

I understand what you mean, but it is like pretending the TR909 has realistic drums and no machine gun. If you need a realistic drum in a song... well... you call a real drummer. Otherwise, everything is "fake", with the paradox that, in electronic music, the "ultrarealistic instruments" are faker than the fake emulations, since: while you can hear the "fake" romplers mb patches, on the contrary playing sampled "ultrarealistic" instruments instead of calling real musicians, seems like a sort of "magic trick". It is up to you to dedice wheter you like this "fake taste or not: see for instance what the drummers were thinking of drum machines in the 70s-80s-90s. Nowadays considered "classic" and often played by them, too... "oh, the analog!", "oh, the TR909 kick", "oh the moog brass"Burillo wrote:well, i don't find them realistic (try playing anything fast - machine gun galore!), but i find them good enough for sketching purposes. while they aren't quite on the level of BFD et al, they're surely miles better than anything ST2.

I'm happy with my ST3 upgrade purchase........it's all that matters to me..........
Anyway has anyone installed the 3.0.1 update on Win 7 64 bit yet ? Any issues ? I'll probably try the update tomorrow. I haven't encountered any issues with ST 3 yet but I haven't tried to import any of my ST 2 content.
Any advice on how to import multiple libraries like Sonik Synth , Miroslav, the Expansion Tanks etc ? I assume the update fixed the need to delete that one file in Sonik Synth that was causing issues ?
Thanks for any input...........

10+ days later, I am still waiting for support to get to the root of my issue.

well, i didn't expect it to be BFD and Kontakt rolled into one. i expected it to be ST2 with improved sounds, which it mostly is.blueman wrote:So, effectively, we are resigning ourselves to: hey, it doesn't totally suck, right?!

ST3 knocks Core Audio out, randomly but frequently, when I change multis and/or FX, especially with the new instruments. I then have to re-initialize CA. I don't think whoever is dealing with my issue has any firm idea what the problem is, other than it happens when my firewire Duet is the audio interface but not when the internal audio is selected.Teksonik wrote:What is your issue ?Bombadil wrote:10+ days later, I am still waiting for support to get to the root of my issue.

1. Content for ST2 is already included in ST3. This is key because the patches have been designed specifically to take advantage of some ST3 features.Teksonik wrote:I'm happy with my ST3 upgrade purchase........it's all that matters to me..........![]()

2. Importing from ST-powered instruments seems to be a pretty simple affair. I only imported Sonik Synth 2 so far, but the import was very easy. Just point to the folder with the content and then import.
It will appear as a new library in the browser when you're done.

On the contrary, I expected it to be just ST2 64bit. I don't even like the new GUI (even if I have to admit the three pages solution is very comfortable). For "better (?) sounds" (for what it means in electronic music...) there are lots of alternatives out there. For sure ST was not made to be a Kontakt killer, it isn't its function. Those who believe it could replace Kontakt have wrong expectations. ST3 is for the ones who want a good software "90s workstation like" instrument. I've already written about IKM "faults": putting attention to the "new beautiful instruments" and such, they've created wrong expectations in newbies. Old ST2 owners are happy with ST3 sounds, on the contrary. Their grumbles are for the price, some CPU or automation issues, importing features limitations and such.Burillo wrote:well, i didn't expect it to be BFD and Kontakt rolled into one. i expected it to be ST2 with improved sounds, which it mostly is.blueman wrote:So, effectively, we are resigning ourselves to: hey, it doesn't totally suck, right?!

Yes I know. By ST2 content I meant all my Expansion Tanks, Sonik Synth, Omni Synth, Miro, etc.........stuff I've been using in ST 2.BERFAB wrote:1. Content for ST2 is already included in ST3.
Ok thanks. I seem to remember reading somewhere a few dozen pages back that importing each library causes a full rebuild of the content each time....or maybe I misunderstood. I was just checking to see if this was in fact the case and if the 3.0.1 update has fixed this issue........BERFAB wrote:2. Importing from ST-powered instruments seems to be a pretty simple affair. Well, you do need to hit the re-scan button to get the patches to show up in the browser.Teksonik wrote:Yes I know. By ST2 content I meant all my Expansion Tanks, Sonik Synth, Omni Synth, Miro, etc.........stuff I've been using in ST 2.BERFAB wrote:1. Content for ST2 is already included in ST3.

I forgot that I also loaded my SR Re-Tank expansion using the same method. No issues.

The ticket I see that appears about this issue was opened on August 3rd and has regular replies with the last on Friday (the previous business day). It does not appear that your issue is able to be replicated on their systems at this time, and they are doing their best to see what could be triggering this in your specific setup. I appreciate your patience.Bombadil wrote:10+ days later, I am still waiting for support to get to the root of my issue.
