The prefix number is derived from the Instrument or Child Preset name in the SS2 library. I'll guess it was used as the way of associating the child presets with their parent.dsan@mail.com wrote:I find it curious that all the patches in this bank have duplicated the prefix number, 001 thru 060.

Sorry I can't buy that. The same files got corrupted on different systems ?Burillo wrote:i think one should probably remember that files stored on your hard drive aren't guaranteed to be the same files you have written there (unless you're using enterprise-grade filesystems). if they were there since long ago, chances are some of them got silently corrupted as time went by, which may explain the problems you're having.
So why aren't those files corrupted in Sampletank 2.5 ? I used the same files. For example "004 Gone" works just fine in ST2 but not in ST3....unless I remove the Filter. I've never had a "corrupt" sample or patch file....some of which have been in place on this system for over a decade. So what you're trying to say is that ST 3 happily imported corrupt files ?
It's much more likely that there are errors in the import/conversion process.

i didn't say it was the case, i merely suggested that it could be affecting something. i think i've read about some problems with importing Miroslav here, yet i myself had none. since i don't believe import works differently on different computers, the only other rational explanation i can think of is this.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

You're right. I didn't think to check the child presets. That explains why Always Remember does not have a sample file.....it uses the Resmosize sample.DarkStar wrote:^^^^
In SS2 itself, "009 Always Remember" is a child preset of the "009 Resmosize" instrument here
Neither of these patches play on my system either. The chances that the same files were corrupt on two different systems seems highly unlikely to me.............dsan@mail.com wrote:.
I have found 2 patches in the A Motion Synths that do not play; 009 Always Remember and 009 Resmosize
Again it seems much more likely that the import/conversion process is faulty.

I think it highly possible that the import process does work differently on different occasions. If it's somehow a bit buggy then it's possible it could work fine for one person but not for the next. Like I said the same files work fine here in ST2.....but not in ST3 so that tells me the files themselves are fine.Burillo wrote:i didn't say it was the case, i merely suggested that it could be affecting something. i think i've read about some problems with importing Miroslav here, yet i myself had none. since i don't believe import works differently on different computers, the only other rational explanation i can think of is this.

it is possible for SampleTank 2 to be more forgiving than SampleTank 3 due to it being its native format.

So what you've just said is that the import/conversion process is possibly inaccurate. ST3 in unable to import ST2 content with 100% accuracy.Burillo wrote:it is possible for SampleTank 2 to be more forgiving than SampleTank 3 due to it being its native format.
Have you tried to import Sonik Synth ? I have not yet tried to import Miroslav. I'm going to try importing some other libraries today.

i don't own Sonik Synth, so no, i haven't, although judging by the thread it seems to be the most problematic of all. as i said, i imported XL, Miroslav (full), SampleTron, all Xpansion Tanks and a couple of Sonic Reality libraries, with no problem (aside from memory leaks).

I'm importing OB Xpander now. I can see what everybody has been saying about ST3 rebuilding the entire Instruments Database every time a library is imported.
Who knows maybe that will fix the issues with Sonik Synth after a rebuild.............

Your best bet is to [Cancel] the Database Build after an Import finishes, apart from the last Import - let that Database Build run to completion.
Those SS2 instruments show problems here too when Imported into ST3.
NB, remember to import your Comibs too, they are done separately, on the Multis tab. And, ST3 puts them in the sounds library folder, not in the program installation folder.

Yes, sorry for the oversight.Teksonik wrote:.....Always Remember was one I listed:

Thanks for clarifying DarkstarDarkstar wrote:The prefix number is derived from the Instrument or Child Preset name in the SS2 library. I'll guess it was used as the way of associating the child presets with their parent.
Burillo, I'm unclear how a file may have became corrupted just sitting on a disk. I realize anything is possible and agree something is affecting something. Not trying to nitpic your assumption but I think it is deeper rooted.Burillo wrote:i didn't say it was the case, i merely suggested that it could be affecting something. i think i've read about some problems with importing Miroslav here, yet i myself had none. since i don't believe import works differently on different computers, the only other rational explanation i can think of is this.
Like you I had no problems, that I know of (didn't know I had the noted problem I have until looking into it) installing Miroslav and at least for as far as I have checked the sounds work.
There are way too many variables for me to be able to ascertain the problem so I am hopeful IKM can get it sorted without much pain.
@Darkstar and Burillo - have you checked the noted files to determine if they play on your systems? If they do not then there is obviously a conspiracy
Let us know if they work for you please.
Thanks!
Happy Musiking!

Yes I did (2 of them anyway) - I see the same issues as Teksonik.

Nope didn't help with the SS2 issues. I think a big clue is that here at least fro example with the SS2 Instrument "004 Gone" it will not sound unless I turn the Filter off or switch to the VCF High Pass filter or some others. VCF LowPass will not work at all so to me that's pretty solid evidence that there is some form of import/conversion issue.
For the record I'm not upset about the issue and am still happy with my upgrade purchase but if there are bugs or issues that I can help fix then I'm more than willing to do so..........just not through the support ticket system.
As we can see the 3.0.1 update has already addressed some import issues:
• Fixed possible"boost::filesystem::remove"error while importing legacy instruments
• Fixed Import of modulations from legacy instruments contained in the XpansionTank Vocal library
So it's quite possible other issues still exist. After reading these ST3 threads over the years a lot of people expressed interest in just using their legacy sample content in ST3's 64 bit environment. If there are issues that prevent them from using all of their ST2 libraries then I'd like to at least try to help find a solution.

Hope this is OK: I've just posted them to Support - let's see what they say.Teksonik wrote:Ok I've successfully updated to 3.0.1 and imported Sonik Synth. However as I'm going through some of the instruments I'm getting several that make no sound: A Synths /A Motion Synths/"002 Delight Sequence" and "004 Gone" right off the bat.......

Yes that makes sense. I'm in no hurry to import all my libraries so maybe I'll just let it rebuild after each one.....just takes a few minutes. But if I import more than one at a time I'll take your advice and cancel the rebuild until the last one............DarkStar wrote:^^^

Thanks that's good to know. That pretty much rules out corrupt samples.......on three different systems.DarkStar wrote:Those SS2 instruments show problems here too when Imported into ST3.
Actually I never even thought about the Combis. I'm more into making new ones but after I import everything I will try importing my old Combis or Multis as they are now to see if they still work.........DarkStar wrote:NB, remember to import your Comibs too, they are done separately, on the Multis tab.
