Exactly what is it that has you guys so upset with mac users?!Is it really so difficult to port these plugs to both platforms? Isn't that what most developers have done with software to reach the broadest audience?
Why don't you go buy yourself a compiler, ask nicely for the source, and port the stuff yourself. Before you guys respond, please just take a minute to ask yourself this: Are you trying to contribute to the Tracktion community or to the PC community?
Me too, and thusfar I've been just overwhelmed at the way mac users are falling over themselves to help themselves.I, for one, have hoped from the first day of using this program that Tracktion might represent a fresh opportunity to make music regardless of silly things like platform preference.
I program PC because I own a PC. I'm not buying a mac to code on unless I am going to earn money from it. I have more importnat things to spend my money on. This is hardly platform snobbery, it is common sense.Last time I checked, osxaudio had more than 14000 views on the Tracktion thread. If you are really trying to contribute to the whole community, please include us. By all means, build on your native platform but at least make an effort to port to mac later.
I think you'll find people make free stuff on the platform that they own. Before you guys respond, please just take a minute to ask yourself this: Are you trying to contribute to the Tracktion community or to the PC community?
I've ported Lightwave plugins from the PC to the Mac some years ago, I no longer own a Mac or a Codewarrior license though. It's not that simple, which any professional multiplatform developer can tell you.james wrote:Hey!

I'm not making fun of you. I'm serious. If you want those plugs then short of being lucky enough to find a mac coder willing to sacrifice the time, you're need to think about coming forward yourself.james wrote: Valley, when have you ever known me to attack you or anyone else and I've been posting here since last October. You really should make an effort to distinguish the person from the platform. This is ridiculous. I only ask for some consideration. I'm not ashamed to admit that compiling is over my head. Make fun of me if that makes you feel better.
Mod's stuff isn't SE, but the stuff that is you could port the ideas unless they are too complex to implement.ost12666 wrote:Wasn't it all created by SynthEdit anyway? So how can you port it to the Mac?
My excuse is that I use Pascal at work and from past experience I don't work well using two languages concurrently. I'd be spending all day removing printf's from my Pascal code and all night removing begin/ends from my C. And don't get me started on :=, =, and ==...NiallM wrote:The biggest obstacle imo is the fact that the majority of these plugins are written in Delphi for some reason.
Yeah, it's not hard (particularly with judicious use of search & replacevalley wrote:Porting code from pascal is not hard though, sans the UI stuff if the coder has used VCL, Pascal is a very easy language to read even for non-pascal programmers.
