I'm just getting to be cautious about spending money at indie devs, I see too many of them just disappear or discontinue their products.

Think I'll rather spend 90 bucks on u-he's Bazille when that gets released.

How would you compare it to his work for Alchemy?

Certainly take the Alchemy stuff over this, simply because Alchemy is better suited to these kinds of sounds than Kontakt is.

While Bazille is great and well worth your cash if you're into modular synths, Diversion is a fantastic synth on its own merits. If you buy it today you get a perfectly working synth so I don't know why it matters it was done by an indie, at $89 it's a great deal IMHO.
Btw, I think of u-he as an "indie" as well. Their team has expanded quite a bit but it's still just a few guys, no?

This is why i hate u-he fanbois sometimes. Diversion is not even the same type of synth with bazille. Yet he feels the need to advertise bazille while discrediting other synth.

Discrediting "indie"-devs seems to be some kind of hobby around here...

Big companies discontinue stuff just the same. Autodesk Softimage (my main 3D app for 10 years), Apple Shake (great compositing software), Apple Aperture, NI Kore...

Dmitry so far has been a very stable source of not only an exceptional synth but also of fast bugfixes and continuous updates and feature additions.
I bought Bazille too, but that has nothing to do with Diversions qualities.

Cheers,

Tom

sad..quite a contrast to kvr's early days when for the most part all the excitement came from 'indie' devs
Apple was an indie once, Microsoft too, quite a silly attitude actually to bash indies.
The most innovative ideas come from indies. The big companies usually just buy those when they lost their own drive... ;-)

lol, I deleted my post just as you were quoting it, because I thought it sounded too much like a grumpy old man reminiscing.

Well, us "old grumpy men" must hold together ;-)
Not every silly uttering of youth needs to stand unchallenged :D

Cheers and thanks for all your work Bluedad!

I prefer to spend money on indie devs to support them.

I spend a lot of money on indie devs too, at Samplism, SynthMagic, Hollow Sun etc

But just seeing how Arc5 suddenly got discontinued, and M-RGT can't even be reached now (good job I have a back up of those files, in case I need to reinstall the synths), it's just some example recently that makes me wary.
