is it possible? i would like to open \ call my vst plugins by pressing a midi controller button.

Set the controller to control the Gain (mix fader) of one rack and put you instrument into this rack.
It's not the most elegant way, but it works.

it would be great to have this working in an easy and elegant way. any chances to have this implemented ?

AndreasD, I think hcv242 means display the UI for the VST by pressing a CC -- nothing to do with audio processing. The answer is that it's not currently possible as MuLab UI manipulation controls can't be automated.
