Zebra XY Pad: Option to choose which Pad is currently active?

Just wondering whether this feature is available, or if it even makes sense. Basically, I have a Korg nanoPad2 which features an XY pad. While it is great for controlling Zebra's XY Pad, you cannot set the XY to separate MIDI channels, its basically a 'one size fits all' type of thing. Meaning that I can only control one XY pad at a time, or multiple pads moving at the same time, in the same direction. Now if Zebra had the option to 'highlight' which pads which currently 'active', I could then highlight that pad and use the XY pad, move on to the next pad or even assign key switches to each pad for more control and flexibility. Does Zebra currently have anything like this, or is there a workaround? I don't want to have to buy 3 more nanoPads just to be able to control the other Performance Pads! Sadly at this point, it seems like the only way for me to do what I want to be able to do. Thoughts?

3 more nanoPads - 3 times as much fun (and available controls without needing to switch pages)! :D

It says here there is a an option to set the midi channel for the XY instead of global using the control editor software but maybe that's a bit clunky?

- a switch on the controller would be better - I use a midi joystick and even though it's only a single joystick I can switch between channels 1-4 (or more) easily to control the 4 XYs - if you want to control them all at once though maybe a multitouch iPad controller would be a better option?

Isn't the Nanopad's Scene selection capable of switching what the X/Y pad sends? Apparently you can switch between 4 scenes.... if so, that would be perfect for Zebra ;-). If not, it's quite an oversight by Korg.

Just looking at the manual it seems that is the case:
MIDI Channel [1...16/Global]
This specifies the MIDI channel of the MIDI messages that are transmitted when you strike the trigger pad. If you set this to “Global MIDI Channel,” the messages will be transmitted on the Global MIDI channel (p.8 ).

That's actually the link to the old nanoPad, I have the new nanoPad 2 and I think the XY pad is hardwired to the Global MIDI channel.

I do have an iPad but I would really like to use hardware XY pad instead of a touch screen...

So it looks like the Nanopad's X/Y settings are global, they don't change with the Scene. Bummer...

Ok guys, I just tried to assign the XY pad to separate 'scenes' but it didn't work. I think the device lets you set the MIDI channel initially but its pretty much Global after that. This is probably because the XY falls under the Global tab.

Yes Howard, that's what I was trying to explain from the beginning.. any solutions?

Old iPad + "MIDI designer lite" + camera connection kit (or similar).

I don't like the smooth glass 'feel' of the iPad for something like this, I would rather use a separate piece of hardware.
