Probably asked before, but just crossed my mind.

Thanks :)

Nope, will be different products.
Z3 will not "replace" Z2, and Z2 will be kept alive. :)

It will be the same concept as Zebra2, but most modules will be rewritten from scratch. Most importantly, Oscillator waveforms, LFO waveforms, MSEG curves and ModMappers will be based on the same kind of curves/sample data. This makes the data interchangeable (drag a .wav file into an MSEG for a transient analysis, then drag the MSEG into an LFO...), but it can not be made backwards compatible.

Cheers,

From apeman (Zebra 1) to human (Zebra 2) to starchild (Zebra 3)... Urs has learned much from the shiny black monolith.

"2001: Space Odyssey" was a really weird movie, too abstract for me. I saw it in the movie theatre approximately a million years ago. Just what the heck are the black monoliths anyway? Do they represent hardware synthesizers before synth plug-ins came about?

You have Kubrick to thank for its incoherent style. Arthur C. Clarke's short story The Sentinel which started it all explains what the monolith is and why it's on the moon. And he has no interstellar babies.

OK, I watched the little video & I saw the second movie (is that what the video is talking about?) roughly 20 years ago, it's just something planted by an extraterrestrial being (that wasn't shown in the first movie), but somewhat implied in the second movie?
