When Traction is open media players don't work

Yesss, today I've bought Tracktion and being freed from the " swoosh" sound it's time to make some music

I discovered that when the program is open I cant play my rendered WAV files in my media player . When I close Traction it works fine

What am I missing here guys Please give some hints.

Is this not normal? I think it is. Tracktion totally takes over the soundcard for its exclusive use I think.

I'm playing Media Player, Real Audio, and Tracktion all at the same time while I'm typing this. It doesnt sound too good tho . I know theres a setting somewhere but I dont remember where. As long as you dont have Tracktion using the same driver as Media player or anything else it should play.

Try highlighting a audio file in the project tab, then clicking on "edit audio" (center-bottom properties) and checking off "minimize tracktion when external editor is launched". See if that helps it.

it just means your audio card isn't multi client
basically if you imagine each piece of audio software you are using is a client trying to use the card at the same time
check the specks on your card and see if its multiclient
most cards nowadays are multiclient sort of
even the crap in my laptop lets me have taureg tracktion and acid and ngwave all running together
it may be something you have to turn on on your particular card
an easier solution maybe to use the asio drivers in tracktion and use normal drivers for media player
this way you can sort of fake multiclient support
pro audiocards actually have a seperate audio pipeline for each driver running so you can use each individually at the same time
when you check your cards spec make sure its not just multiclient midi
oh and what soundcard is it

Hi Rack Blitz. My audio card is a Terratec DMX 6 fire 24/96. I am rather new to making music on the PC and do not understand all what you said yet But I am learning

thats a fairly decent card
dont worry you just need to configure your drivers
first thing go over to http://www.adbe.org/guides/tracktion/audiosetup.html
this is adbe's guide section try this and then get back to us
once you have tracktion setup on asio you should have no probs

Rack blitz, as far as I can tell Traction is working fine ( meaning I can play my keyboard an hear what I am doing without latency )

Rendering to audio works also, the only thing tat doesn't work is using a media player when Traction is open or minimized.

Sound of the motherboard is OFF, maybe it should be ON?

have you set tracktion up to run on asio
tracktion maybe okay but you need it to be on asio
or a different wave driver to media player

My synth line just fitted wonderfully over the top of Donkey Tuggers 21-22! Cool.
