I have Triangle II set as a synth after Stepchild in the plugins section. I add one pattern and save it to the first buffer by right clicking "1". then I build a second pattern and right click to save it in buffer "2". When I go to playback the song I can't figure out how to switch between the two patterns. For example, lets say I want to play pattern 1 for the first to measures and then switch to pattern 2 for the next 5 measures, I cannot seem to figure out how to do this. The only other step sequencer I have used is Reason's Matrix and I can change patterns without a problem. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
A.
Switching Patterns in StepChild

the short answer is there's no short answer. stepchild doesn't provide a useful way to do this inside itself.
however, you can use MIDI notes to change patterns. if the "trigger patterns" button is set to ON, MIDI note messages from a keyboard or on a MIDI track will change patterns.
what I usually do is set up the patterns I want and then make my MIDI keyboard an input to the stepchild track. then I start recording, using the keyboard to switch patterns in real time. once I'm done, I just edit the new MIDI clip so all the changes are in time and whatnot. does that make sense?

Thanks for the info, the only thing is which note on the keyboard to you hit to trigger the pattern change? I was trying to experiment with hitting the notes (example C4 or C3) and recorded it but it didn't do anything to change a pattern. Thanks again for your help.
