Now, I'm a little confused. Does Dnekm' post mean if you move stuff into the original set of ST3 sounds, you need to move BOTH the "Samples" and the "Instruments", whereas if you are moving imported sounds from one imported folder to another, you should only move the applicable "Imported Instruments" file?

I would think, that if you are moving Instruments from one imported folder to another imported folder, that the samples should remain where they are. Just a guess, though....

Samples and Instruments can be moved from "imported" to general library. The only important thing: always remember you can not rename ST3 sample paks (the encrypted samples folders associated with instruments). If you do that, you will get error message ("failed to load instrument"). On the contrary, you can always rename the instruments. NOT the associated samples. Example: let's say you imported an instrument called "guitar" (guitar ST3I): it comes of course with a related sample pack ("guitar.pak"). Now, imgaine you don't like the sound, so change parameters (filters, effects etc.) and magically obtain a lute. You can save the instrument as "lute", but the original "guitar.pak" cannot be renamed into "lute.pak" (in order to be related to your new "lute ST3I"), it has to remain "guitar.pak". I don't know why, but it works like that.
If you want to try, just get MICROGEMS (134 new priceless sounds for ST3) here: http://www.mheo.onweb.it (pay what thou wilt, instructions included)

While the P Bass has been impressing people who downloaded the first additional sound set for SampleTank 3 Free, there are also other sounds like Hard Alpha Bass, Pulse Sub Bass, Dumbeks, and the Alt Rock Kit. Has anybody been using those?

Ok...this pre-order of the boxed version is a joke...a bad joke. This time my Sweetwater rep hadn't contacted me about my order, so I contacted him since both he and Uncle E said last month that it would delayed until early September and we are well into the 2nd week of September now. He said he is now expecting it later this month. That would be coming up on almost a 2 month delay now on the boxed version release and would be over 3 months since I made my pre-order. What a strange and inadequate way for IK Multimedia to prepare for a pre-order. I have done pre-orders from other companies before, and the product is ready and shipped in 2 weeks or maybe a month but not over 3 months! This is absurd!

for what you spent on boxed version (i assume it's more expensive?) you could've just as easily buy a small (50GB-ish) external HDD and back up whatever you've downloaded, leave it aside and pull it out when necessary.Mace404 wrote:You don't have to pay IK Multimedia to insert the DVD's in your computer after 6 monthsBurillo wrote:what's this obsession with boxed versions? download is perfectly good enough...

still, investing a bit of money for a backup solution would've caused everyone far less grief than sitting around waiting for boxed versions.

Hi...I have had hard drives crash, and I lose the sound files. And IK Multimedia charges to renew download links that expire. Also, my internet connection is not the best. Anyway, IK Multimedia offers the customer the choice of boxed or download, and so whether or not you think download is enough, they should handle that choice they have offered properly.Burillo wrote:what's this obsession with boxed versions? download is perfectly good enough...

Some people don't have the bandwidth or data plans that allow downloading larger sample libraries.........Burillo wrote:what's this obsession with boxed versions? download is perfectly good enough...
Not a problem for me as I have broadband and unlimited data transfer but I have seen people post that their monthly data limits do not allow large file transfers...........
