I was frustrated by the constant key tracking of the filters at first, but then I realized I could just add an eq at the end of the chain and do the same thing. Of course I couldn't use the crazy filters or the distortion, for my use I didn't need that. I just needed a LP filter to cut off the high end. Once I figured that out thighs became much less frustrating.

Hi all.
Possibility to use program change with a "correct" midi implementation.
Not only with 8 preset. With all MSB and LSB value.
I think is usefull. It's a SYNTH and not an EFFECT. And program change is very usefull during live performance.

The oscillators seem to be pretty nice. With the latest beta I can't save presets. An error message appears (could not find required attribute (info)). I also had some crashes when dealing with modulators.

Regarding program changes.
It seems that melda plugins needs loads of data for initialization,Buzz Is downright balking when i use the A-H preset change, can this be improved?
Regarding automation.
Would be nice to automate the step sequencer (and custom shape) in the oscillator section too for even more modulation niceties, this still seems to use a huge amount of cpu (after updating to the latest beta).
Regarding Multiparameter.
Still i'm not so sure why they are so important other than assigning midi controls.
I know they are regularly used in the "easy screen" for most of the melda-effects but i can't find any easy screen in the Synth.
Vojtech, could you explain a bit more about the purport of Multiparameters usage in the Synth?

I would like to propose a variation on a previous suggestion that was rejected. Rather than an MAnalyzer display, I'd love to see an oscilloscope type display - have it show the signal at the end of the oscillator chain for, say, the lowest note currently active, using a cycle time equal to the pitch of that note. I realize that looking at the picture of a waveform tells you little about how it will sound, but that's not the point of this. These oscillators are very complex (and somewhat mysterious) beasts. Having a picture that responds to parameter tweaks as your making them would be very informative to a novice user and possibly even be helpful for a seasoned power user.
Also this: how about a "Clear" button to initialize a patch to empty. I've read through the documentation twice now and have yet to see how to reset a patch to empty.

Program changes - well, that's problematic - we don't use any fixed number of banks or anything. There are A-H presets and then there presets (and there can be any number of settings). Also the settings are often very huge, this is not a simple instrument with 30ty knobs. Just the core provides about 2000 automatable parameters, plus lots what cannot automated, plus FX... Not that simple...
Automation & modulation - the oscillator shape modulation will always take quite some CPU. But the less you enable the better. Mainly avoid advanced/transformation & harmonics in normal mode. Harmonics mode modulation however seems to be much more efficient. If you'd feel something is taking irracionally high CPU or something, send me a preset, I'll check it out. Also if you are automating / modulating these things, goto Settings/Settings and lower the Automation protection.
Multiparameters - these are extremely important, because they mark the most important settings. Basically you open a preset and sure, you can mess with the thousands of parameters, but you can use these "macros" instead. It also has the Speed now, which lets you smoothen the settings out, so that parameters, which would zipper when accessed directly wouldn't zipper anymore.
Analysis - again, now, I already explained it several times. Use your ears, we are making music, not science! And btw if you check how square wave looks like, you'll see it's not a square wave. And I could talk for hours about why is that and that's exactly what I want to avoid

What you mean by that?modj wrote:the highlight on "constant frequency on/off" seems to not respond with some style.

i can't see if it's on or off when using v7 style, i can hear it it's ok it's just a visual thingMeldaProduction wrote:What you mean by that?modj wrote:the highlight on "constant frequency on/off" seems to not respond with some style.

Aaaha, yeah, V7 style... that's the style from version 7... People wanted it that way

Which is why a picture is worth a thousand words ... I rest my case!MeldaProduction wrote:And btw if you check how square wave looks like, you'll see it's not a square wave. And I could talk for hours about why is that and that's exactly what I want to avoid.
Seriously, though, since I first wrote about the usefulness of a scope display, I subsequently discovered the youtube videos covering the oscillators. I'm understanding things in this area much better now. By the way, the documentation is really quite good - there are just some things that are far more comprehensible when demonstrated rather than written about. I think it's most commendable that you have the documentation more or less complete at the time you released the first beta. A lot of outfits are shipping final product before the documentation is even complete. Well done.

This, plus the absolute killer feature that you can change multiple parameters at once, even with different transformation shapes for each target parameter. This is so awesome and I use it a lot. You can create complex sound changes with one fader that has filter, oscillator and effects settings changes under the hood. I like the concept very much and as I said I use it a lot. It is rare that a multiparam only has one parameter in my presetsMeldaProduction wrote: Multiparameters - these are extremely important, because they mark the most important settings.
