Couldn't find anything in the demo version. Installed the download found in the product area but that seems identical to the demo. Manual is mute on the subject. Any hints?
I had the same problem yesterday, no worries.

First, uninstall the demo. You then go xferrecords.com, register (if you aren't already), and then download the full version under files (your registration key will also be available on xferrecords).

Got it! Many thanks paulbreeze and KB

Couldn't resist making a quick stringy-type preset...

I am demo'ing this right now. Pluginguru video makes this synth look very buyable. Steve is a great community influence too, so even more pressure :)

Because I was raised and dwell in a cave, I just learned of this thing yesterday. I downed the demo today and I'm pretty excited about this thing. Some of the patches absolutely eat my i7 alive, even at 1x oversampling, but most are less demanding. I'm assuming that making use of the SSE2 instruction set means that it is taking advantage of multiple processor cores?? Regardless, I'm pretty much sold. I really like the GUI, and it seems pretty straightforward to tweak (for a sound design weakling like myself). I don't need it, but I'll likely have it anyway, and feel good about it too. :hihi:

Glad you like it (I live in a cave too, so that might explain your 'connection') :hihi:

Oversampling applies to most of the warp modes, like Sync. When Warp is off you won't have any change in CPU performance. The best ways to reduce CPU are:
lower Unison when possible or release times of notes, or
lower POLY in the lower-right (16 is usually a bit much, since you can have 35 voices for a single key (if Unison is maxed to 16 on both oscs+sub+stereo noise) 16notes*35 = 560 voices, which is actually potentially > 1000 internal voices peak, if wavetable positions automating/crossfading. So, long story short, keeping unison and/or POLY lowered is a good bet for CPU savings.

The actual oscillator playback is well optimized (you can compare in a basic sense to other softsynths from an init situation, just using polyphony and you'll see it's competitive there). I still have more optimizing available in some areas (I expect both patch load time, wavetable load time, table morphing, and filtering can all be reduced in CPU consumption). Serum doesn't utilize multiple cores on a single instance for DSP functions, but obviously those cores are still available for other tasks).

Thanks for that info Steve. I'm pretty sure that I can reduce poly without a problem. My parts are usual pretty simple, as I don't actually play piano/keyboard (I'm still scared of those black keys). Regardless, I haven't even scratched the surface as to the possibilities. Did I mention that I love the UI and it's intuitive? I'm done. I'll buy it tomorrow.

Same here... I felt very silly. :dog: But I think the new version overwrites the demo (on my mac anyway).
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Hey Steve, sorry to bug ya but any word on linking the Pitch Wheel in FL 11 yet? Tried to post it on your site but am unable to create a new thread at the moment.

but any word on linking the Pitch Wheel
Pitch bend is not an automation parameter at the moment, you need to use MIDI pitch bend for now, or use a macro knob linked to master tuning, for instance.. It's on the requests list already however!

It's one from the softer side,

a single Choir preset, Mw and velocity opens the choir and Aftertouch brings in a nice Horn

Cheers, :)

Awesome :tu: Thanks for the quick update!

Holy cow, some of these presets are sounding amazing. I'll get to work on a few tomorrow night :D

A little spooky to get in the mood for October.

Wouldn't call it dark ambient, but… fantastic, my favourite patch in this thread
Thanks!

Here is an Ambient Patch for Serum from "Concentrated".

This was done with one preset and one guitar track (2 tracks total).
All the effects on the synth are built in to the preset.
