I've found a pretty serious bug. I notice that when I assign aftertouch to something like filter frequency I get a lot of zipper noise/clicking.
I can't be sure I'm hearing what you're hearing. I have a rather subtle zippering here, there's no event smoothing on aftertouch and being that it's 7-bit means it could probably use some smoothing (like I provide for pitch bend, for example). I'll add it to the to-do list.

This is my experience with AT in general, i'd much rather use a ribbon/wheel/knob or even foot control for expression stuff. I guess can understand the appeal to two-handed players but that's about it. Funny enough the only reason it's in Serum is I've seen AT mentioned enough here on KVR (in my circles of 'electronic' musicians I don't know anyone who uses it, well, intentionally)..

That's pretty cool, I had someone asking about a way to do this for VSTis in general, looks like a nice solution... thanks for sharing!
Could it possibly be that factory patches can't be saved under the same name if changes are made?
They should be able to be resaved, there's nothing "special" about factory preset files that would prevent overwrite. Maybe some sort of permissions snafu? You could change something obvious as a test, I'm not positive. There is an undocumented/unofficial feature (unofficial because it only works for items loaded from the Preset menu system) which is you can alt-click the preset save button to overwrite the loaded preset (it prompts you to ask you if you are sure).

Really enjoying hearing all of the new sounds!

Its great to see that Serum is not only a great synth but comes with active support and assistance.
Gotta love that!

Very cool! Did you write the m4l patch?

I'm sure I don't need to say this to Simon but a plea to sound designers in general - please make better use of the macros. So far too many of the patches seem to have pretty limited (and sometimes unimaginative) macro assignments, and that's if they have any at all. Massive has 8 macros and most banks these days have assignments for all, Serum has only 4 and yet many patches have at most 2 assignments, and too often for basic functions there are controls for already. I setup my controller template so the macro knobs appear on the first page so it feels like I am wasting knobs at the moment. And macros should be for the sort of controls that take the sound into new places, not just to turn up or down the reverb or fx, to me the first knob I reach for should make me go wow! (yeah double entendre :))

This is a huge request for more slots in the Matrix, especially when using more complex Matrix assignments the end of the list is often quickly reached and then I start crying.

This one was made by creating two different wavetables from samples of male overtone singing using them in 2 oscillators, the import "constant frame size works" works beautifully on sounds with a distinct pitch and simple overtone structure.

See my post above, the problem is the limited amount of assignments which can be made in the Matrix, assigning 4 Macros uses up a lot of slots which are usually needed for other things. I just had a patch where I couldn't assign the 4th Macro as I had already run out of possible slots.

I like how you can get a patch to sound, "Old School Analog" but with more clarity and detail.

Really enjoying this baby!

Favorite synth of 2014. :)

Agreed, that needs opening up too - the macros should be given more attention generally - this is a synth capable of some very complex sounds, the macros could be used to provide a lot more physical control over that (just look at what can be done in Alchemy or some of the better sound design for Massive such as Mikael Adle's and Matt Bowdler's - here the macros can radically shape the sound into something else - like you have sounds within sounds).

I think I have to say +1, although 3 weeks ago I would have put money on it being Bazille - Serum just has the right balance of 'fast start' simplicity but with great depth as you get in to it, it unfolds...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

A very fair request. I'll keep that in mind as I make my bank.

The thing with people creating really complex sounds is that they sound great by themselves, but you can't use half of them in a song/tune, unless all you create is ambient type tunes.

I agree that more should be made of using the macros, and I would like something along the lines of alchemy where you create presets in presets with the remix pad.

All that said, there are some great sounds on display in this thread!

Is it just me, or are all these pad sounds very metallic in timbre ? I have yet to hear something that resembles a warm string or something similar. Most sounds have this harsh metallic texture to them, is it the wavetables that does this ? Not meaning this in a bad way, just an observation from what i have heard so far.

Still think its a great synth NTL.

Cheers

I don't think the reverb helps there.

Some more calm meditation music here, using an impact hammer sound I recorded in a harbour in the Noise Osc which is FM- modulating Osc 1 which is using a wavetable made from an imported metallic impact sound. Modwheel controls FM amount and the Macros do the rest.
