I want to make simple Rompler patches from other synths and then use Serum to filter/modulate them. Is there any way to time stretch the samples in addition to pitch shifting them (for the purposes of playing chords with samples)?

You are amazing Patch. I love your Omnispehere and Lush sets. I hope you will do a bank for this synth that captures that flater, mellow backing tone pads sound that you can hear on the Wham albums "Edge of heaven" and "Make it Big"........
A BIG thanks for your feedback and request!
Your right, Serum would be cool for those type of sounds.
Maybe I will do an 80s sound-set for Serum.

Been messing with the demo and this certainly seems like a cool synth so far. For the copy protection, I'm just given a serial number that I feed into the installer right? No hassle beyond that?

I'll keep messing with the demo and if I like it hopefully I'll have a copy before the intro offer is over.

screentan wrote:Sorry if this has already been covered but I tried the demo on Win XP Cubase 5.5.3 and the presets are not found. It is asking for the install folder? I searched around but could not find the presets. I selected the presets check box on the install options. Any ideas why they are not showing up?
The folder is supposed to be in your "My Documents\Xfer".

Couldn't stop myself from buying such a fun instrument. Steve and crew, you guys have really put out yet another incredible product. Further, to see the work the "sound sculptors" are already doing with this is very encouraging!

The "less is more" advice that countless successful producers has given (including Steve in his reddit AMA) becomes so much easier when you can simply throw serum on a channel and automate your way into quite a colorful canvas. Its so crisp, you want to leave space for all of the ear candy to shine.

My talent has never been in sound design, but this synth makes me want to take the road less traveled.

Yep, you remove the demo, download the full version that's in your account once you bought it, then you enter a serial in the plugin just once. That's it :) About as hassle free as it gets!

After playing with Serum for a few days, I am stoked. I haven't studied up on creating wavetables yet, but I've been deconstructing factory patches to better understand the modulation routings. I've had lots of success creating a few patches thus far, and that is a big deal for me. This synth will likely rate high on my favorites list for a long time.

Just checked with the Serum demo and the 64-bit VST2 plugin in Live 9.1.5 64-bit (at Windows 7 64-bit).
No problem when assigning aftertouch to Cutoff here.

did you use a factory preset and if yes then which one? Maybe i could check it with that patch too.
I can't remember what patch... or if it was one of my own that I was working on, but it happens 100% of the time if you init the patch, set aftertouch to modulate filter pitch, play a C 4 and then just start scrolling though the filters. Some are worse than others, the ones with a steeper cutoff are the most noticeable. I didn't check the 64 bit version of Serum.
I noticed a similar thing when mapping AT to filter cutoff tonight as well. I tweaked the response curve on the modulation page just to see if I could smooth it out. In this case, I was having trouble making the cutoff smoothly controllable with AT. It seemed to be a bit jumpy, to the degree that I couldn't control it well. I didn't want to change the curve on my controller itself.

Edit: This may not be a fair issue to bring up. It might work perfectly with other controllers and/or AT controller curve settings. It's not a big deal breaker for me, but I thought I'd chime in.
Maybe, but I don't think so. I've never had an issue sending pressure from my Notation Remotes and it displayed the same bad behavior using Ableton Push.

aftertouch smoothing will be in the 1.01 version which shouldn't be far off. I'll have a new demo version too.

That's good news, although I just tested in Live 9 with my Novation Remote SL and did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

Since buying Serum I've been experimenting with various samples in the wavetable editor. I keep all such audio material in one folder on my hard drive (has thousands of files), and noticed a subfolder called "Wavetables" which contains 160 files (500MB) of ".wavetable" files which load easily into Serum. The subfolders are named: Basic, Complex, Complex Linear, Complex Spectral, Complex Seep, Formant, Rhythmic. File dates are all Jan. 14, 2014. I cannot recall the source of these, and there is no Readme file in the folder to help. Might have been a free download from CM or some other website, or these may be source files from another wavetable synth (but I cannot figure out which one). Assuming these are legal to share - which I hope to determine - I will do so. Sound familiar to anyone?

Google hints that it could be Breaktweaker, could it be they're from Izotope?

Yes, you're right! Guess I cannot share those after all.

Yes, a very inspiring synth.
