OK, i need Your help here, instead wasting my time for days to find out,
how do i do a simple Hard Sync of Osc 1 and 2.

Thanks

Actualy no, i can Sync using FM ABS, problem is when using the Envelope in the Modulator
it does not retrigger on every key, if its LegatoLike playing the Envelope on the next key
starts from where it left of before, not like Classic Hard Sync.
Also, what i want is, to be able to Control the Depth of the Sync with my Filter Envelope...possible?

Ugh?? What?? :o :D Ok, so please tell me step by step what you mean by all that? What kind of sync are you talking about??

You know what i mean:

Ok on the Elka the actual Sync is controlled thru the Portamento Time but
that does not really matter. But i mean just simple Classic Hard Sync as on
any other Analog or VA synth. You Sync OSC 1 and 2 and you just send the
Pitch to be controlled by an Envelope, LFO or whatever, its not important.
As for the Envelope thing i mentioned above, i can use another Envelope
to control it, just copy the Settings from the Filter. The Synth is great but
i still find it very inconvenient for people like me to make actually preplanned
Sounds. A lot of names, therms and things are changed so it has pretty steep
learning curve even though it takes me 2 min to copy a patch from an MP3
to a real ARP 2600. I still have not figured out how to shut Velocity Sensitivity
completely off for Filter or Amp.

Thanks

I haven't found any actual sync (hard or soft) in the synth but I guess you found what you wanted. The control to turn off amp velocity sensitivity is under the advanced controls tab. There you will find a velocity curve. Set it to a straight line straight across the top and it's off. Velocity control for the filter is off by default but if it's been turned on by randomizing or something you can find it on the by velocity tab under either filter. That will let you change velocity sensitivity for cutoff envelope depth resonance and resonance envelope depth.

Hope that helps.

Thank You Sir, that helped a lot. As for Sync, you can achieve it by doing FM on both Oscs.

I don't get how one can achieve hard sync by using phase modulation. I know you can get similarly harmonically rich sounds with fm but I'm pretty sure this synth doesn't have hard sync.

Sync is when OSC1 restarts the cycle of OSC2 when the cycle of OSC1 is finished.

FM is applying superfast vibrato to an osc, not restarting its cycle. Hope that helps!

I know . Dude says he can do that with fm somehow. I am curious if this is indeed possible.

Yes, you are exactly right but not knowing how to achieve that on MPS made me use FM
which kinda gets me to where i wanna be but not completely.

Huh? And what on earth the hard sync would be for??? It would just create abrupt ends when the pitch would be different, so I really don't get it ???

People like the sound of it. I'm not really missing it in mpowersynth since it has so many other options for screwing with the waveform. For a minute a thought that the op had found a feature I had missed.

Ok, so is there some audio example or something? Some simple 2 waveforms first without sync and then with it?

I'll make one for you when I get in the studio I suppose. It works best on harmonically rich waveforms. It basically lets you change the pitch of the synced oscillator to generated new waveforms while still maintaining the impression of the first oscillator's pitch. You've heard it on lots of records before. It gets more fun when you can do it with other waveforms that the standard tri saw pulse. You most often hear it on lead sounds as it makes a sound reminiscent of an overdriven guitar. It can also be used subtly to add texture to simpler sounds.
