Quick question about the browser --

How come all of my user banks and third party banks default to showing the folders open? E.g. all the boxes denoting folders of presets default to "open" folders and therefore my default browser config is enormously long lists of open folders. I would much rather it default to -closed- folders, so I didn't have to do so much scrolling / closing of folders just to find the one I'm trying to get to.

Is this the standard default behavior or is something weird here? More importantly, any way to change it?

edit: what i've noted in the behavior is that any folder that contains another folder will always appear as a "box" that can opened and closed (which is fine) but the default load behavior is to have all of them already open...why?

thanks!
-Michael

Uh.. yeah? I really must be missing something obvious here! I read the chapter "patches window" and it did not appear to address this issue. I also have right clicked in the folders panel and what I get is "refresh", "create new folder" and "reveal in finder" -- all useful stuff, but none of it changes the default folder behavior to be closed rather than open. Are we talking about the same thing?

Again, if a folder has other folders inside it, all the folders inside default to being open when I open the main folder. With preset libraries that have a lot of individual folders, e.g. Bass, Pads, etc, this results in a lot of scrolling / closing of folders to locate specific areas or things.

thanks, -M

Wow, that last option does not show up for me....

I'm wondering if it's because I'm using the AU not the VST? I'm on a Mac running Mavericks...

edit: I went to try the VST, and now I have a new problem, Ableton doesn't see the VST in my VST folder despite my Finder confirming that it is indeed there... ugh.

I'll have to screw around with this further, though I've not confirmed, as of yet, that the AU / VST difference is what causes this...

Do you have the latest revision installed? It shows up on the GUI on the XY page.

I don't know if this is already in the Zebra manual, but I found this in the Bazille manual:
On open expand to
The submenu contains options which govern how deeply the browser will open subdirectories whenever the GUI is opened or the Refresh function (see above) is applied. Note: The branch containing the current patch will always be opened.
ah interesting (I have the same question as OP).

By "latest version" do you mean "latest beta release"? Because I think I have the latest release from u-he.com - zebra 2.7 rev2157 - but it doesn't have that "on open expand to" option. So either it's in a beta release, or windows-only, or my version is out of date.

What rev do you have? It's in the lower-right corner.

Any way to tell the latest "official" version from u-he.com other than downloading it? It looks like 2126… and I believe I have 2157 as a result of downloading the Dark Zebra directly from my u-he.com account.

My version is 2.7.0 ... which is what the u-he site lets you download from the zebra page. if there is something newer, I'm not sure how to find it..

I have rev2709 from this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&t=419732

I don't know what the first revision with this feature was, I'm afraid.
afaik these are beta versions, right? so this feature hasn't made it to the official release on u-he.com website yet

Post

I have that option and I have rev 2709 as well.

Post

it must be that this feature isn't in the official release. I just tested a VST finally and it's also missing there, so scratch that silly theory...

i will try the rev 2709 and see what happens.. have a feeling it will show up fine there.

I guess the lesson here is that the download link from u-he.com doesn't represent the latest build and I should be updating from this forum instead, eh? Fair enough..

thanks everybody for the help,

-M
