How do I get Van Halen "Jump" sound?

I didn't say that it wasn't popular, especially among the masses, I said that I wasn't impressed. I remember chatting with a friend of mine who plays the trumpet and we were talking about swing. I mentioned "In The Mood" and he rolled his eyes. He didn't think very much of the track at all, and yet, it was and is very popular.

u-he DIVA can do a really good Jump sound it comes with one in the third party presets. DIVA has an Oberheim filter.

Watching the video I noticed that van Halen plays the bass in octaves. Here's my second attempt, which reflects that. Again, first the original, followed by Diva.

You nailed it now I think. Your bass fades out too fast, but the overall sound I'd say is as close as you can expect to get. Awesome job.

I wouldn't exactly say "nailed it" - yes it's close, but it's considerably different in the brassiness/fatness of the sustain/release phase. But that could be tuned for sure, just needs some refinement of the patch.
If you don't hear a sound side by side with the original, a lot of patches will do. I made three versions and when I play them alone, each one sounds like the original. But when I directly compare them to the original, each one differs from it in a certain way.

I fiddled with it some more and tuned the near-mono spatial image, did EQ fine tuning and tried to hit the right dose of detune and reverb and now I am here:
