Financially, the price of wusik is a bargain, even if only to host the 3rd party soundsets.
And as Teksonic noted, the stock wusik Famous Keys banks have some great sounds,
that are easy to bolster with favored effects. Someone spending a weekend
selecting their 'keepers' out of the many gigs, will have a large and useful set.

Eve is also very useful for quick and easy blending of 3 bread & butter epianos,
organs, pads etc, claiming it has 0 value is absurd.

EVE is 32 bit only and isn't being updated.
Never thought much of it personally, but as a 32 bit only,
it has no real future value.
If 8000 has the same sets, V7 loses future value also.
And 8000 is cross-platform. V7 is not.

But of course that is 'Subject to Change Without Notice.'

i thought EVE was by Dash Signature? Sure enough, it's on Dash's site AND Wusik's site. WTH?

i used to like the EVE CM (or CM EVE?) that came with some Computer Music magazine issues. It was pretty basic in the available sounds, but i hadn't any other versions of Solina sounds at the time. i also had EVE One(??), i think it was offered to CM EVE users as a free bug-fix edition or something, but i kept getting confused between that and CM EVE. i used one or the other a few times for that Solina sound. Then i found a more direct Solina emulation in a Reaktor ensemble.

i got Wusik Station v1 with Computer Music magazine around the same time. There was a deal to get V2 cheap. So i bought it. Then there was a group deal on WS 3 "Big Package", or something. Bought that. Upgraded to v4 "huge", or 4Gig collection, or whatever the heck it was called. Good prices each time.

i never used any of them.

i was insane at the time. Waste of money. i'm sure the sounds are nice and the synth is decent, but i've had 4 editions and never actually used it. i don't really know why. Maybe i don't like the name "Wusik". i had trouble typing it every time i had to type it in this message. Plus, i've moved to Mac, so that was another reason to not bother with it any more. i stopped using any third party plugins that aren't cross platform quite some time ago.

i have both v7 and 4000, and i really like them. i actually prefer v7, but thats more a matter of taste than anything else.

i got a v7 license when i purchased 4000 (bundle), which is a good deal...except...and this sticks in my craw a bit...about a week or so after i bought 4000 he made the announcement that 4000 was being replaced by 8000. i mean 4000 had only just come out (i did the pre sale group buy thing, or whatever it was called) and we (the people who bought it) were being told it was already just about obsolete and wouldnt get updates and such. and it snot like the people who bought 4000 would get 8000...no, we just bought a brand new synth that was already headed for the chopping block.

kind of annoying.

as for the synths themselves...i LOVE them. again...i actually use v7 more than 4000, but i really do like them both. they sound fantastic.

my only issue is with random (frequent) crashes when changing presets in v7...which isnt being supported anymore...so no help. i just have to remember to save my project before trying to change presets. not a deal breaker...just a nuisance.

It was quite annoying for me too. The kicker is when many of us voiced this annoyance on the Wusik Developers forum, the reaction was to delete anyone that voiced their disappointment with it. So it then went from 4000 version 2 to be renamed 8000.
I too, actually preferred V7 over 4000 and while I didn't get crashes, I got very loud and troublesome pops and noises when changing presets. And as I mentioned before, sometimes it would just decide it couldn't find samples that it didn't have finding before. Forcing me to close and reopen, which sometimes corrected it and sometimes didn't. Asking about this, the first reply I got was they were aware of those issues and working on it. The next time I asked, the reply was they couldn't figure out why it was doing it. And the third response I got was they couldn't fix it and I would just have to live with it (but with an additional suggestion that I should buy 8000 as that should fix everything).
The next thing I saw was they would no longer support it and it was sold 'as is'.

I'm with you, Jace-BeOS. I got v6, which had a "final" update as a beta version--and no user manual. When that wouldn't work properly, William gave me the latest version of v7...which hasn't been stable at all in Windows 7, (even though it's supposed to be a 64-bit plug-in). It crashes every time I use it, usually taking Sonar with it. Re-installing doesn't help.

I've never found the sounds to be anything outstanding, and some of them (such as the loops) are not intuitive at all. Since there's no user manual, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to make it work.

EVE was never very useful to me. My biggest peeve with it (other than the humdrum sounds) was that the mod wheel was mapped to an outrageous LFO on almost every patch. It didn't add subtle tremolo or vibrato, no. It added a '50s-style modulation that was utterly useless.

WilliamK has been helpful and quick when I've asked for support. I just get the feeling they're in over their heads at Wusik, with all the things they have going on over there.

yeah...i really do like the synths themselves...and williamk has been quick and helpful when i needed it. but to be honest...the more i think about it, the more it feels like some kind of sleazy bait 'n switch scam. i dont think ill purchase 8000...or anything else they make because of the shady way theyre doing business.

a shame really. it didnt have to go that way.

BTW, to the OP:
The current prices I see on the Wusik Site are the highest I've seen them for quite a while.
I wouldn't consider any of these prices as a sale or discount at all.
So at best, wait for the official release of 8000 (non-beta) and wait for one of their real sales.

BBFG# wrote:Because its been replaced.
Why spend money on the same synth two or three times instead of just waiting for the one that is suppose to replace the other two?
It just doesn't make any sense for someone buying their first Wusik product.
Wusikstation is a finished product. 8000 is not. WS is also not modular and it's workflow is completely different which means some may find it easier to work with.

To me it makes a lot of sense to have both WS and 8000.....when it's finished. Especially given the low price of WS and what you get with it......(hint: .sfz and.wav files can be used in other plugins)

You're the same guy who couldn't get Sampletank or some other IK products to run. I'm seeing a pattern here........

I'm seeing $49.95 for Wusikstation. That's a steal for what you get.

I upgraded from Wusik 6 to 7 last December I think, to be able to use W7 64bit on my PC.
Have never gotten it working. Reported to William on his support system, offered to help replicate etc..Clearly he is too busy with 4000 and 8000. Still have never gotten to use it once....Left a very very bitter taste with me.

Eve was a joint effort between WilliamK and Dash Signature. Kind of like Albino 3 with Papen and Linplug.

No mystery there.

Both W7 and 8000 are great tools, I use them regulary for some of their extrem modular matrix capabilities.
Cubase 6, Alesis Fusion, Virus Ti, Korg Triton & Digital & Analog Collection, K2000R, Yamaha CS1x, Komplete 9, Kirk Hunter Libraries, NVA Taiko Drums, Uhe Ace, Bazille and Zehbra, Polyana, Jamstix 3, Toontrack Drums and more libraries and VST's

You see patterns where there are none. I still run STank2 without issue and IK has told me they are looking into their 64 bit issue again now that more people are having the same or similar problem.
So the only similarity to the two is in taking a 'wait and see' approach to see if it gets worked out.

I agree, it's a steal, but who's doing the stealing?
Seems it was 29 or 39 just a month or two ago. Prices fluctuate constantly with this company. Best to wait for the next bear to swing the prices back down.

Considering it is now sold 'as-is' without support or fixes (and please note that it crashes on other people's systems, not mine. My issues with it are nowhere near as bad as theirs), but anyway considering it is 'as-is; and 4000/8000 was suppose to be its new upgraded version that does all it does and more... it just becomes fluff in comparison to their own promises of their other software.
As someone else put it, 'bait for a switch' into buying two other products already deemed by the developer to be the same product.

That's why I continue to say if you're going to buy from this company, don't waste your money and get only the latest product (which is only in beta form now). Wait until it is fully realized and all things are included at that point, since it has been my experience that they continue to need more money from the people that did buy into it just to complete it far too often.
