why not be able to open a second (or third or forth etc) view of your edit?
You could then have a set of tabs for each view and leave each view open at areas you are working on i.e. a view for the chorus, another view for the verse, another for a working area, one left as a close up of a drum arrangement.
Now there is no need to have to continually zoom in and out and scroll all over the place. Just click on the tab of the view you wish to edit where you last left it.

This is a slick idea - I like it a lot.

In Guitar Tracks Pro, there are widgets (like Mac OS X Finder view widgets) that switch between track, mixer and edit (I think), This makes working in GTP3 really easy, you never have unnecessary window clutter. The widgets are always inthe same place in the UI. That would work well in Tracktion, I think.

I'm a long time user of Guitar Tracks Pro, and I've preferred to use that over other much more involved programs for mixing and multitrack block editing because of its nice interface. But I think Tracktion is comparable with it's "everything in one screen" interface, though in a sense you still have to futz around with scrolling and resizing various things, so it's not necessarily saving you all that much time and trouble. But I'd like to see it evolve with finding efficient ways to work on projects while still maintaining it's single window interface.
