Scenario:
My 1.6 Ghz PC is coughing up blood (thanks to Z3ta+) and I don't really wanna bounce 10 tracks down to one. That's too restrictive.
So the options are:
1. Buy a new CPU and motherboard. Maybe Xp2600 for £130. Even though that's not much faster than my xp2000, but I just think the faster models are too expensive considering the small amount of speed you are getting.
2. V-stack / Chainer. System link.
This requires a 2nd pc, which I have P3, 550 mhz
But also requires a decent soundcard in that pc. I only have an SB live, which I don't think will do. So, do I need at least something like Audiophile 24/96? They are still around £130 I believe.
3. FX Teleport. Network connection. Requires 2 network cards, 1 in each pc. This seems like the cheapest option. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find much information regarding this. Does it do the job?
Another thing is; the 2nd pc is in another room. Firstly this would require about 10 meter long network/ SP-DIF cables, which could also cost a bit or what?
And say, I just used the other pc for 3 or 4 instances of Z3ta+. I presume I would have to flick through the presets on that pc (slave), not the one I'm working at (master). That would be a bit difficult, as I wouldn't be able to hear my tune from that room.
So, what do you guys do?
