i have normal z2 and never use presets, so is there enough customization in hz to warrant the upgrade?
btw if it has a new ui, thats a big selling point for me, as i hate the original

hello,

most utterly definitely, if you allow this combination of words.

the sound of the instrument(s), at least for me, eliminates all (possible) user interface questions, you can check the main site, there surely exists some screenshot for your liking.
the user interface of the plug-ins is also modifiable, customisable, there exists quite some load of these to choose from.

all the best...

yes... considering the added features and that it includes the future upgrade to Zebra 3... yes

you get the Diva filters (minus FilterFM), the way cool resonator ( ) and the per channel compressors

yeah i seen resonators, but aint that pretty similar in sound to a comb? (well obviously its got more bands).
ok well it'll have to wait a couple of weeks, as its half the price of zebra, but probably worth it for my fave synth.
thanks for the info

btw zhz and dark z are same thing yeah?

Post

Well you pay mainly for the presets - that's not some "kids in the bedroom" presets, but presets made by Hans Zimmer and Howard Scarr. But if you don't use presets...

And you get Zebra3 for free - what more can one want..

Post

oops, i didnt realize it would make z3 free, i thought it just reduced the price a lot?

ok well z3 is probably 2 years away (dont bother telling me otherwise lol), but this is definitely on my list

I know you said you don't use presets, but the patches in the dark zebra are definitely worth checking out for learning purposes.

oh i dont doubt the quality, its just that i see zebra like an extension of my own mind, and i love the fact that when i make a bongo sound or whatever, its come totally from me, with no outside pollution.
i've heard quite a few sounds made by other people that are beyond what i can do, but still, i just want this one synth that i can say is mine

must admit though, i've been close to going to the patch area and looking for a violin, but i resisted so far

btw i think i got topic number 5000 in the uhe forum? epic first uhe post lol

If you're not into presets, maybe buying another synth in addition is the better alternative...
i bought ACE instead,and didn't regret it...

Nope. Comb filter is a tuned delay line. Resonator is a parallel bandpass filter network.

That is a difficult question. I love Zebra. It is the soft synth I know best and the one I use the most. The presets in Zebra HZ are great. The DIVA filters sound great. I still haven't fallen in love with the resonator module. What surprised me is how litte I actually used the DIVA filters after a while. For most of the cases the regular Zebra filters sound great.

well thats why i was careful to say "similar in sound". both have a kind if metally effect when sweeping through the high freqs.
actually zebra's comb is pretty unique, i was thinking more of other more standard comb filters
