I'm listening to the download zip (much appreciated!) and it appears G-roove's track "The One" was replaced with "Spectraland" (also a great track that still holds up)

The preset thing is a difficult one. In one way, it would be nice to know who used presets or tweaked presets and who created from scratch because I'd tend to give higher scores on those whose sounds I thought were great and were programmed from scratch. On the other hand, it might dissuade people from entering the competition who don't have better sound design skills. In the end, it's about making a good song given the sounds that are capable from the synth.

I will say however, that my participation in the two OSC's I've entered has improved my sound design skills immensely. I've tried to design all my sounds from scratch (I did completely on this last track) and it's really helped me learn more about not only the synth involved, but just sound design in general. Getting believable percussion can be a real pain on some of these synths...

Voted !

Two things to say.
First: no wonder, that this Synth1 is allready a legend. This OSC prooves perfect the variety of its sounds.
Second: some of you will find comments from me on SC which are senseless on their position. I hate the new SC, because I did not find a way to clear my own comments when I saw that they are on a wrong position or have heavy typos. So I wrote less comments as usual. Blame SC, not your tracks!

This is odd! I downloaded the zip file yesterday (about 30hrs ago) and G-roove's track is definitely "The One"... unless the file has been changed since then?

Oh and RichardSemper, your wife's video is cute and really suits your track. I especially enjoyed how the dancefloor appeared on the drop! Brilliant!

Well, we're out of town for the the "Cup Weekend" here in Aus so for me, SoundCloud listening/comments are pretty much out of the question.

For those of you that have listened and commented on Tink so far, thanks heaps and I will of course catch up with everyone's work on SoundCloud as soon as I get back. Managed to listen to about half of the tracks on the drive down here and must say that this is truly another stellar OSC.

The OSC remains my favourite means of listening to and appreciating original music. 8)

Ooooh yeah. It's 80s time! <3 I'm still wondering about how you made some of the patches. This just hit another soft spot of mine! :D
Hey sagamusix, thank you for the kind words :) In case someone is interested, I can publish the presets later on the kvr preset page. Since I quite exactly knew before where I wanted to go, I created the presets by myself. If the synth has such a manageable amount of parameters, I believe its faster to design the sound than searching for one that maybe fits. And since the genre Synthwave highly depends on modulating sounds like in analog synths, this synth seems to fit quite good for the genre. Although my crappy kick drum sounds more like a slap on the wet butt of my girlfriend than a real stable 80s kick (used filter ADSR with 99% rez), I decided to leave it like this because this nice random modulation/analog emulation is maybe some signature feature of Synth1.

There is only one point in Synth1 I don't like: That's the sound of the filter. For my taste it colorizes the sound too much. Even with rez at 0, it sounds like the rez was already at some higher value. So the LP12 doesn't really sound like a typical 80s LP12 filter.

Hanz, your patches as kvr preset bank would be great. Thank you in advance. :tu:
BTW: Your track is in my top 3 of this OSC. ;)

Voted.
only a preliminary vote so it may change yet, Ive based my votes on whether I actually like the tune firstly, I like a good hook.
some of the production quality in this place is very high, makes mine sound very raw and basic, which it is but it makes me smile listening to itturned up loud :hihi:
I think these competitions show that we dont really need the multitude of synths that are so easy to collect in these virtual instrument days as something like Synth1 can cover most sounds, especially when you start layering
Had to make do with just my Pro-One back in the eighties, but Im just as guilty as everyone else for collecting them.
Anyway ... back to the matter in hand.
Beauty is only skin deep,
Ugliness, however, goes right the way through

Voted. Maybe I will still change the order since I find it hard to decide, lots of good tracks.

Thanks a bunch for the presets! I'll dive into them later and see what's the magic behind it... or if it's just the production itself which adds the magic. :D If you're feeling generous, maybe also upload the XRNS file? :) Renoise is easily available for anyone to look at, after all, so it's less complicated than e.g. providing Cubase projects (which I also appreciate, but I have no means of looking at them).

Edit: I'll definitely have to remember that technique you used for controlling the tone on the toms (putting the resonance all to the max), since being able to only directly control the pitch of OSC2 with an envelope but only having noise available on that osciallator is one of those limitations I often have to fight with on Synth1.
