Also, the sequencer can send MIDI Notes and two control values. Those control values will be, say, Velocity and Expression by default but one can choose others (ModWheel, PitchBend, BreathCtrol, Aftertouch). This way one can do patches that work expressive when being played both by sequencer or by hand.

Plus, the sequencer can continue modulating stuff even if it doesn't send notes (one of the main feature requests for Zebra's control sequence in the Arpeggiator).

This made me remember that I've diva with a sequencer tucked away in a dungeon, so I pulled it out, date says good old 2013 mid summer, works on yosemite like a charm lol
It's rudimentary but fun to play

I wasn't sure. The original plan was to build a combination of trance gate and sequencer. It worked, but it was hilariously geeky. One had to use the trance gate as trigger source for each envelope individually. By design it was impossible to do legato slides. It bugged me too much.tehlord wrote:Very cool, I recall you saying at one point there would be no sequencer.
I then stripped it down to trance gate only. That worked as well, but it was a bit 2004.
So I made a copy, stripped it down to a sequencer, removed the need for manual trigger selection, i.e. made it work like 99% of those sequencers out there (but not irrationally call it an "Arp") and liked it much better.
Now, having both a sequencer and a trance gate was not an option either. So we're offering the sequencer to optionally work as mod source only and *pop* - out comes the trance gate

If I'm looking at other CPU-efficient classics that could do with replacing, Oatmeal would be one. Something like the old draw-your-own-waveform thing would be nice.

So we do get a sequencer capable of doing trance gates? Very nice.Urs wrote:

I haven't tried the trance gates yet, but it should indeed be possible. Caveat: Trance gate can't be placed in FX section. OTOH one can modulate FX parameters, so there might be a chance to work around this.2ZrgE wrote:So we do get a sequencer capable of doing trance gates? Very nice.Urs wrote:

Btw, lol at all that unison
you have supersaw oscs, yet you want even more "fatness", sylenth was about clever choosing and packing not about packing everything under the sun. If this synth will go with forum users whims it won't go far, though since it's from u-he, it'll have a big user base.
Whatever music there is, it's not happening because of the unison... seems like everyone want to sound "fat" but with fat comes "puchless"... proven by 1000000000 and 1 record during the last two years...
Love me or hate me...

Very nice, can't wait to see it in action.
Your target market are very fond of one note sequenced patches.
Something else I was thinking is that it would be very nice to be able to address FX parameters via the modulation slots. Spire does this, but the 'other' one doesn't.
Can't wait......

It's not all about "phatness", it's also about complex sounds, and making use of what's possible with software. If you're not into that, fair enough, but there are a lot of people who are. That said, i understand the reasons for not implementing true unison (i actually wasn't even aware that it is considered to also multiply the synths's other components, like filters and such. If that is true, then there's very few plugins/synth out there who do true unison, the only one i could think of is Dune 2). I didn't know Sylenth hasn't voice stacking on top of oscillator stacking too.Blue-eyed Blonde Ape wrote:Btw, lol at all that unisonyou have supersaw oscs, yet you want even more "fatness", sylenth was about clever choosing and packing not about packing everything under the sun. In this case you'd just have to make sure that FX can be modulated smoothly because on some synths modulating the reverb mix very quickly works but on others you can hear clicks and pops.Urs wrote:I haven't tried the trance gates yet, but it should indeed be possible. One more request, if the effects are all inserts, can we please have the option of "always on" for the reverb? In this case even if the reverb mix amount is at ZERO the reverb is still being fed and is active. The end result is that we can the mix knob to zero and bring in the reverb periodically with the sequencer or mod wheel or something.
Basically for an effect like this
Also what kind of reverb are you adding? My preference is for something like Diva's reverb rather than Zebra2s. But something lush
One more thing - if the FX could simply be available as send effects on a bus ala Zebra2 that would be awesome. Needn't be complicated but it would allow us to use the sequencer "throw the send fader" on certain notes for example.
