It wasn't allowed on the forum when the freebie events were ongoing either.Hans25 wrote:I think the benefits of this rule outweigh the disadvantages.Numanoid wrote:Is that really all good? I remember when Waves or Soundtoys had a thing about giving away freebies via such links.
That is no longer allowed on the forum then.
If you remember on both Soundtoys freebies, the mods made them post in a single thread instead of littering the entire forums with those links.

KVR isn't going to use Skimlinks anymore?!BBFG# wrote:Ben [KVR] wrote:I've just added this to the rules:
Links (Affiliate links and link shorteners are forbidden)
Affiliate links are not acceptable. Any links must be direct and must not contain any marketing or affiliate tracking or redirection.
Link Shorteners, such as bit.ly, goo.gl, etc., are not acceptable and may not be used in the Market Place forum. Links should always point directly to the target URL so the browser knows exactly where they are going before they click the link.Yay!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Lol. The naive idealism of some KVR members kinda makes me chuckle a bit.
The entire purpose of this site is for its owners to profit from discussion.
This isn't Wikipedia, with Jimmy Wales begging for donations once per year - the ".com" TLD means something.
Obviously, they can do whatever they want with their site, and it's clear that they don't want others taking a piece of their pie. Understandable.
But yeah, that other dude wasn't me. Do you seriously think I'd be so brash?
That guy doesn't even know how to use grammar.
Affiliate link or not, if getting the lowest price is important to you, you should always exercise due diligence in checking multiple stores.
You're on the Internet, so it's not like you're wasting gas. There's really no excuse when it comes to taking responsibility for your own priorities.
The great thing about buying from Waves directly is that you always have your licenses automatically added to your account.
A lot of the time, it's not worth checking every retailer and waiting over the weekend for my licenses to be manually delivered just to save $3,
so buying direct definitely does have its merits (especially over the weekend).

I thInk people lookIng in a 'Bargain' thread probably just want the cheapest price and are not too worried about waiting a day or two.
The whole point of the bargain thread is so we all don't have to trawl the internet looking at every store for the best price. Of course this only works when we can trust people who post deals there are genuinely interested in sharing the best deal instead of getting a cut of the sale. Hence, big thumbs up for the new rule

Cheers, HansHans25 wrote:You can now get some of the plugins from the Abbey Road bundle for a lower price at audiodeluxe (look at my bargain post).Fleer wrote:That's how I see it too. Faithful emulations like Scheps 73 and NLS are fine examples of what I love from the Waves catalogue. Ah, I always love the 'naive idealism' line. The patronizing, corrupted cynicism of it always serves to remind me of who I don't want to be.
I sincerely encourage you to relax instead of worrying too much about others suffering from hopeless absence of the clarity you enjoy.
The majority of the KVR community got along fine before you arrived, and I'm sure that at least a few of us will manage to somehow stumble along without your mature wisdom.

The few of you who have a problem with me should've been honest when you said that you muted/blocked me.antithesist wrote:Go away, salem!
I don't want to see your responses any more than you want to see my posts!
I just thought that it was absurd that people continued to bring up old topics about me long after discussion had died down.
Someone asked whether that guy that got you all up in arms was me, and I felt that I needed to clarify (It wasn't).
I'm following the rules right now, same as I've ever been. Carry on.
