I guess it's synth month because U-HE is finishing the new Hive synth

It's good that people don't get their hopes high. We're not cloning Sylenth.
Hello, I own two of u-he synths. Slowly returning to making music (primary income comes from 3D art - interiors and stuff).

What discouraged me is your statement that it is good that we dont hope too much, because you are not cloning Sylenth. Does that mean that you dont intend to make a synth that produces such quality sound??? My zebra and my diva are imho two best sounding synths, together with Sylenth, each in their own expertise area.

I like the futuristic interface screenshot of the Hive or supersynth, but somehow I am sure It will be able to produce that perfect warm sound we are all looking for.

I am sure it will sound great. It just wont sound like sylenth. That's all i think he was saying.

The way i understood it, it simply won't be an exact copy of Sylenth1. ;) I'm sure the sound quality (whatever that is) will be as good. It just will sound different i guess.

^^ what zvenx says.

Regarding different sound... We have three basic waveforms... They will always sound the same. I dont know much about programming, but you can replicate almost any patch from modern vst on another vst. spire, sylenth, synthmaster... Basic filters too. I guess its down to finesse. Warmer sound, filters, mod matrix possibilities.

Uh oh. Somebody done stepped in synth doo-doo.

Lots of factors from a synth architecture and implementation perspective... Features, filter impl, oversampling, etc etc. but def not all synths are created equally, and even those that are may sound subjectively better, different, etc.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

The three basic waveforms are mathematical abstractions. What we actually "get" when we play a synth depends on how it's coded, what key we press, the other components in the signal path and their quality, etc.

Hahaha :) I understand how vst synths work and starting to comprehend the amount of knowledge necessary to create a synth which sounds "good". All I wanted to say that I was a bit afraid of that particular statement that we should not get our hopes high, cause it is not another Sylenth.

Another thing is that if you have a nice melody and a set of fingers to play it, synth will sound good with the damn init patch :)

Anyway, HIVE is a 100% purchase for me, as well as every u-he synth.

No worries, Hive will sound pretty good. We're pulling out all the stops to make a CPU efficient counterpart to Diva, but merely for the digital supersaw / unison stack paradigm. Such as, there won't be a "realistic" analogue filter emulation but the filters will still be really good.

:( you started a good thing with Diva I had hopes you would take the realistic Filter design to a next level with Hive. If not you, who else would?
Induljon a banzáj!

I am sure Hive wouldn't be u-he's last synth.

Is there any sound demo?

You do release u-he isn't the only company out there releasing synths right? Re-reading the topic kinda sounds presumptuous or overly fanboyish to me imo...

What filter you wanted to be emulated in Hive?
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try
