Reinstalling Tracktion will not help, I've been in the Pc business for 20+ years, that window echo is a symptom of a video card not handling the graphics redrawing fast enough, true that Tracktion does require more video horsepower, and I've had this issue many many times, its a video refresh rate issue, exacerbated by either a slow cpu, video card, lack of cpu ram, video ram, or a compbination of those - this will not happen on even a WinXp machine with a good video card with ample ram :-/

You can get second-hand video cards that ought to be up to the job and won't cost much. Could you tell us the details of your machine? If you can't remember, you might install Piriform's Speccy, and that'll tell you most of what you need to know (Piriform are the people who wrote Ccleaner, so above board; I have Speccy on all my PCs as it tells you what the various temperatures are too).

Good idea, Jabe, let's find out what video system he has. Windows key + R, typing in "dxdiag" (without quotation marks) brings up the diagnosis tool which will also show the system info, which I think works in XP, too. (Speccy's great, though, love it.)
The reason why I'm not sure that it's the video card is that he said that this only happens in Tracktion, but I don't know what other programs he usually runs. I'd first look at the driver and the DirectX version. But anyway, let's get the specs.

I should say that I am myself running XP on several machines and the only one with a later version is my music PC with W7 (though currently in bits as the case I had it in wasn't suitable for cooling. I have plans afoot for cooling, possibly including a chimney).

Blaming the video card is lame.
of course it's a kind of bug as other programs dont show this behaviour.
i can force it with opening one empty rack, nothing that drags systemperformance down.
When dragging this rack wild the effects is there.only in Tracktion-m,ainwindow
the main window has to be some size as a small main windows dont show effect.
Tracktion5 last version Win7 64bit 16GB - intel i7 - nvidia K1000m coexists with some intel hd grafics 4000
Setting the nvidia to run as main grafic-card.

But not everyone is getting it. Is the bug in the plug-in? It's possible. Does it happen with all plug-ins? If not, which ones?

Okay, I did that. When I moved the empty rack I did get left-over images from where it had been, but they only lasted for a few moments and then they disappeared. Oddly, I get more of these images when moving the rack filter about in front of other programs (eg Firefox, Excel, Word, etc) than over Tracktion.
So, the fact that they disappeared after a few moments; what is that telling us?

Never get those ghosts in other windows but the mainwindow of tracktion.
And nothing is vanishing here once the mainwindow is overpainted (occurs here only at the right or left side, never in the middle of the mainwindow)
when it is disappearing after some time, something forces the mainscreen to refresh (like tabswitching)
It is telling me that the TracktionCoders has failed to test this .. no offense

The ghost images just mean that, whatever you dragged over, hasn't received enough processing cycles to repaint itself yet.
This could be due to an over-taxed processors, or even possibly a programming bug.

Try to set high priority on tracktion.exe in task manager in anycase.
I had this problem before on a descent win 7 64 bit machine but with updated tracktion now it's ok.

I am getting this big time. Its ruining my use of this great programme. I
'm relieved to see im not the only getting gyp.
I have an i7 8 core chip with intel 4000 built in graphics. 16gb ram. ASUS V PRO MOBO.
T4, Studio One etc do not have this problem.
Revalver, Melodyne, Addictive Drums, Ultrachannel etc, they all ghost across the screen when moving them around.
Hopeless.
I have tried running just one monitor. No dice. The window still ghosts all over the main edit page.
Does anyone have any ideas? Ive been tweaking the Intel graphics settings, no difference.
I've been asking this same question in about 4 different ways now, before i found this thread.
I can't really believe with the above hardware, im getting this problem.
Is it REALLY the video card?
