I'm really missing shortcut functions for navigation. While working without mouse (wheel) it would really speed up the workflow to have shortcut functions that allow scrolling and panning in both dimensions. Of course in any window that allow navigation. Did I overlook something?

Before this fr slips off the first page: Really no one there who's interested in this feature?
Or is this feature already there and I overlooked it? The subject is "navigation without mouse".

Click the menu "Mulab" at the top left.

Then choose "Manage shortcuts".

Then click the button "Add".

Now click in the field "Function". You get a popup panel opening with a very very very very very very long list of functions which are split in two trees: a tree "General" (which contains 250 commands) and a tree "Specific" (which contains more than 1000 commands, grouped in categories). You can assign a shortcut to all these commands. Each shortcut will be to your liking, so that you can manage each one in case of collision with a shortcut of your operating system or something else running in the memory of you computer. You can even assign shortcuts to commands related to the management of the VST plugins and their banks and presets.

Thank you BlackWinny for the detailled instruction. Indeed I already assigned a lot of shortcuts to keys of my own preference.
But I haven't found any functions for *navigation* (left, right, in, out, up, down, ...) in the indeed "very very ... very long list of functions" , so I posted this request. Have you seen such functions? Or anyone else? Maybe I'm selectively blind.

Hmmm... Navigating, scrolling and panning where? In the composition editor?

Exact, you're right. I don't see these commands myself either.

I think it can be a good feature request if Jo reads this thread.

Especially in sequence editor and composition editor. But - due to a consitent GUI behaviour - this functions should work in ANY window that has navigation buttons.

Yes. I agree. I think that Jo will read this thread, it seems to be an excellent feature request. I can't see these commands in the very long list, and yes it would be nice to have them available in the general behavior (in the C++ class methods certainly) of the windows having navigation functions.

Although I haven't got any reply (except your's) to my recent five FRs I trust in Jo reading and considering every post. I think he's really busy atm.
btw: I like your track on soundcloud.

Yes i read every post. (unless i miss one accidentally)
About your FR: It's on the wishlist, asking for R&D time, just like many hundreds of other FRs.
I can't promise anything about this specific FR.

Just for my curiosity: Why would you like to use the keyboard for navigation while you need your mouse anyway for editing compositions, sequences, automations, ... Isn't that a inefficient workflow switch between mouse and keyboard? Just asking, want to understand your flow.

Oh for me it's simple. I have a quite bad eyesight and sometimes I know that some gestures at the keyboard can be done much easier than by pointing with the mouse (except by changing continuously the zoom).

Example: if I could do "1 arrow key left + 2 arrow keys down" (being currently on a third of a chord in an downing arpeggio) I come back to the fifth which was set as previous note in my bar, then Shift+arrow (left/right) will allow me to shorten/lengthen my note or Ctrl+arrow up made twice will transform my fifth in a seventh. I say a bit anything of course, but it's just an example among many others which can occur in a composition time.

With the mouse it is sometime a bit more tedious than with some uses of arrow keys simply because of my eyes. The problem is not in the application itself... but in my eyes, hence a little feature like this can be very useful in situations like that example...

Friendly!

I'm still (and love!) working on a small netbook with a touchpad which is less than 5 cm away from the arrow keys. And for example using "Ctrl-+" for "zooming in" a sequence would be much faster (in my workflow) than moving the mouse curser to the tiny zoom button (No, don't make it larger, please!) and clicking it. I prefer working with keyboard, if possible.

Additionally I would like to encourage you to add more keyboard usability, e.g. using the TAB-key for switching between controls of a dialog box. Just one example.
