And being blunt (as you were) it was not a criticism, but an observation. In MY experience on KVR which is approx the same time as you, these sorts of queries usually are covered in the first day or two, and in this case that comment I made was nearer to two days than one. And it was mroe directed to IK Multimedia for a lack of followup re their Amplitude app, which spoke volumes really.dformd wrote: From my experience with KVR over the years I believe that this is a highly unwise conclusion for you to come to, especially since you only waited literally one day for a response. People have lives, and it's unlikely every person who has read your post has experience with every drum/percussion related app available. For example, I have quite a few apps that I'd need to check to see if they have the functionality you're after. However, most are not on my iPhone (I'm using to type this); some are in holding on my laptop, some are for my iPad (which I don't have with me). I'm happy to check them to see if they might be what you're after, but I'm also not getting paid to help you, so you'll just have to wait (if you care to).
Back to the point though, if you know of apps all you need do is mention the names there is no need for "in-depth" testing I can do that quite well myself. I am quite adept at skimming app details to determine if it is suitable, even to the point of using it in ways not listed by the dev.
However having said that, if you feel you can contribute, without berating, then please that would be appreciated. However sanctimonious posts like yours really help no-one, ne c'est pa?

Thanks, I already own it and as it is a sequencer app only, it cannot do the task I am after. As I wrote earlier IK already have a function that works, just the implementation is not really well designed for using it live and out of a studio situation.BiancaNeve wrote:Not a drum app but you could do it in Yamaha Mobile Music Sequencer

As ufxloops pointed out, his app is a full on DAW. On the iOS side, there are quite a few options if you don't mind getting a DAW app (you don't have to use all the DAW functions, just the drums/beats). The FLS app would be able to do this. [FLS started out as a beat sequencer back in the day.]
There are others, to be sure. Just adjust your search accordingly.

Thanks Berfab - I actually own a few daw iOS apps already, so I am sorta kinda aware of what can and cannot be done. I guess to put it in a nutshell it would be an arranger keyboard type of engine, BUT only using drums none of the other stuff. As I say the drum "sub-app" in Amplitube would work fine, it is just they have no option to set it for a one bar pause before it starts the new variation.
To illustrate the point, similar to the way it works on a Yammie Motif synth using the arps engine where a one bar lag can be set so one does not need to be absolutely perfect in the timing of a button/tab press and thereby avoiding "stutters" when the variation/fill starts.

---Miden, I've been looking for the exact same thing for a while to no avail! I bought the Sessionband stuff after initially being given assuances that midi triggering would come then being told it wasn't planned so they were actually nice enough to give me some more of their apps I won't use.
I think it's difficult to understand for some people that some of us aren't drum people and we don't have the inclination or time to learn how to do it so we depend on what some dismissively call, "arranger stuff!". I cannot program drums and don't have time to so I was forced to buy a little Yamaha MX49 which honestly does sound very good.

thx olepro - another app (PC) that I own - BUT no iOS (or even Android) version that I know of. And no real plans to create one afaik
@Scott thanks Scott yeah I think you are 100% on that. Even triggering via onscreen taps would be do-able, without any midi triggering (although that would be ideal) but I too can find nothing. I might have a look at the MX49 though - sounds interesting.

Have you looked at DM1? It is a pattern-based drum machine. I wasn't sure if earlier "drum machine" was referring to hardware or software, but I thought I'd mention this app just to be sure.
Each song can consist of 30 patterns. There is a 'Sync' button which decides how to handle tapping a pattern. It can move immediately to the next pattern or wait for the current one to finish playing (which seems to be the feature request you want). Patterns can be 1 or 2 measures. The pattern window can display 15 selectable patterns at once (scroll to see the rest).
It does have MIDI Out, which I have not used. I tried figuring it out today so I could give you more information, but SampleTank did not seem to receive the MIDI Data and Alchemy was not offered as a MIDI Out option. I loaded up Sunrizer and DM1 was able to play it, just wasn't drum sounds.
I use DM1 quite a lot and the developers continue to add updates over the more than 3 years it has been out. There are some semi-hidden features that I really enjoy (volume, length and tuning PER step). Unfortunately, the last update made it iOS8 only. Hopefully the AppStore will let you download the last version for iOS7 if that is what you happen to have.

Thanks iPlogger - I did come across DM1 however one also needed some drum loops (nothing with the app itself afaics - let me expand, no acoustic kit sounds, there are electronic ones) or it needed a rewire out to another app that had drum loops...perhaps I was reading it wrong and if so I am happy to be correctediPlogger wrote:Have you looked at DM1? DM1 has both electric and acoustic kits (though definitely more in the electronic category). You can also import your own samples to create your own kits. I am not sure if you are saying you want drum loops, or if you thought DM1 requires drum loops. DM1 is strictly a drum machine app and does not use recorded loops. There are no preset patterns either (maybe a few demo songs come with it). It is a step-pattern sequencer. You can input notes by playing pads or input by tapping the steps in the sequencer. It also has several different time signatures.
If you want more acoustic sets, you either need to import your own sounds files, or use the MIDI Out feature to drive a different app or sound module. Again, I have not used this feature and could not quite get it working when I tried it today.
DM1 does have some limitations. It is limited to 16th notes. Though you can work around this by using the double pattern feature to get two bars, double the tempo, and then you can simulate 32nd notes. You are also tied down to kick being only kicks, snare being only snares, which isn't too bad, but if I don't want a clap or cymbal, I can't substitute a 2nd kick and 2nd snare in those places. Though you can mix and match sounds from different kits, you can't place the snare from Kit A as the Cymbal for Kit B. The only way around this is to create your own kit by importing the sounds yourself and selecting which slot to place them.

Yes from this post I can see you missed the point of what I was asking after...DM1 is what I first thought, yet another sequencer app.iPlogger wrote:DM1 has both electric and acoustic kits (though definitely more in the electronic category). I'm glad at least I was able to clear things up for you so you knew its capabilities. So you are looking for:
1) Contains preset patterns covering different acoustic styles
2) Pattern-based
3) Don't switch to next tapped pattern until the current pattern is complete
Nothing like that comes to mind, as you have already concluded. I can understand why Scott mentioned the Yamaha MX49, assuming it is similar to other Motif synths.
I've actually been quite shocked how most of the drum apps do not include patterns (or very few).
