FIXED....Peace....Apologize......only thing it does is killing Tracktion 5....

It is fixed with the help from the forum. Support IS caring so I apologize for my harsh comments

Thought this is a nice deal and bought Syntmaster player today. But at the moment it seems to be no good deal at all, the only thing it actually does: it is crashing my Tracktion 5 completely

I can load it, open it, listen to the presets but when I close it one time and try to reopen it:

Bugwindow: "Synthmaster could not find any skin definition"

Then you could do what you want next click Puff...there goes my Tracktion 5....

Just in case somebody might ask: no, no other of my about hundred or so VSTi plugins behave the same. And of course I have tried an earlier version of the free Syntmaster player and did not have theses problems (though I am not sure if I have gone so far testing that I closed and reopened an instance after chosing a preset).

No, thats really not nice.....

Little addon: just tried in Mulab free, same behavhiour, sam b.......

Next addon: started the pc again, thought maybe installation thing, wow, got TWO chances for opening and a little hope (so it hurts more afterwards...) and then PUFF b....... again

O.K., last addon, I close this chapter for me. Yesterday got an email from the support. Main content: "It is running just fine on thousands of other users' machines"

The only idea was the file path in the .txt file, but that was o.k.. There where some old files I deleted, deinstalled, reinstalled, nice now it not only crashes Tracktion but PC complete...

But now I know what is definitely NOT is, a bug in the program, only my bad PC, the only one in the whole universe while THOUSANDS are working fine, o.k....

Maybe I will try again with version 4.xxx....

You write that you've installed previous versions of Synthmaster player. Did you try to delete the tmp folders? There are two of 'em:

c:\users\public\public documents\SynthMasterTemp
My Documents/SynthMaster

In my case they were not deleted with a new installation, so may be they are messed up because of an interference between previous and the actual installations.

Just a guess though

thanks for your suggestion, thats more then what comes from the official support....I will try this in the evening when I finished work, maybe.....So far I have only deleted the different *.txt files with the path to the folders from the old installations, but not these tmp-folders, I will try, maybe that helps, I will tell the result here.

Also make sure to try to run your host as an admin user, if you're logged into Windows as a normal user. Could well be another user account problem. Maybe the Synthmaster installer installed stuff into the admins AppData folder, and did not do so in the normal user AppData folder, if there is any.

Note that you might have to set up Tracktion, when running as an admin, so it finds your VST plugins again though, as the settings are default once you run it as admin.

Just deleted the two folders as you said, now it works as it should and dont kill my Tracktion anymore. You should hire the company as a support (or better not.....).

Hello chk071, thanks for your advice too, I run tracktion with always administrator rights (otherwise I would not be able to drag and drop midi from some apps) but have no different users, just me, but I am glad that it dont seem to be something in that area, would be difficult to solve for me cause I have not much knwoledge with accounts adminsitration

What I will never understand is why they complicate a simple VST with such Setup bullshit, nobody else does this and then in the end it is not working at all

I am thankful for the great people here in the forum, and I am thankful for the people from kv331 support. I am now convinced that they really care, and thats what counts for me. I make mistakes, evrybody makes mistakes and at least evry software will have some bugs in special cases, who am I to valus this ?

So apologies again especially to Bulent, maybe should have thought about that this is no easy job at all....
