MIDI dissolve workaround...?

Hey all,

I want to extract only certain bits from my collections of MIDI files, so that I can process them separately. For example, I want to take the kick drum line along with the snare drum, and put them in a separate track with a different drum font in SFZ.

So I click on one bass drum note, "select all notes of same pitch", cut and paste into a newly created MIDI file (which didn't auto-resize to the correct size... is that another option I can find somewhere?). I play it back, and it seems to be fine. I do the same thing with the snare, but... surprise surprise, the snare is not playing back! I click the note inside the new MIDI clip, and it makes the corresponding snare sound, so it's been dropped into the right place. I go to play back, but no sound. So I click around, accidentally delete a note, and then play back again. Like magic, it's there! Good enough. Then I try doing the same thing with the hihat (at this time, yes, I'm realizing that I'm putting the bulk of the hits into the new clip, but since I'm mostly done, no point doing it the other way around instead). Again, no sound, though it pasted correctly.

So far, clicking and mucking about, I still haven't fluked out and got it working.

SO... is this a known bug, and if so, what's the workaround? Point me to the appropriate thread, if there's already one. ;)

Greg
