Hello! I am pretty new to MuLab, I've been a long time energyXT user and finally had to jump. I've been loving MuLab, it's what energyXT would be if grew up and matured =), I'm very impressed

There is one core part of my workflow that I haven't been able to replicate though, and that is duplicating a sequence part or group of parts without using the mouse. What I mean by duplicate is basically - copy and paste, and to have the clipboard contents paste in starting at the end of the part or parts that I copied, regardless of where the mouse is.

Most DAWs (Reaper, energyXT, Studio One, others) use Ctrl + D or Shift + D to accomplish this by default. This would speed things up so much! Any chance this can be implemented?

Also if anyone has ideas of any possible ways work around having to use the mouse to duplicate things I would love to hear them! Keep up the excellent work =D you have another happy user on Linux

If you absolutely do not want to use the mouse, how to select the part you want to duplicate?

I think he (I assume he is a he) means,
select a part with the mouse, copy it then paste onto the end of the part just copied, without having to move the time marker, correct me if I'm wrong :)

Well that's possible, not exactly the same, but close: Select part, copy it, move mouse to target position, paste. You can paste as many times as you want, each time moving the mouse to the new target position.

Ok, so lets assume he doesn't want to move the mouse, but immediate copy-paste after the same part so to make it play/loop longer. Then why not just stretching the end of the part, as then the sequence will loop too.

thats not really a problem just do wot jo says to do sure logic and only copy and paste it cant duplicate

Such fast responses!
@bibz1st, you are correct in your assumptions
@Jo - you got me on the mouse thing, I suppose I do have to use it to initially select the parts.. but only then! :D

Dragging the edge to loop a sequence works great, but only for a single part unfortunately. The real benefit of the feature I'm requesting is when working with a group of parts spread over many tracks at once - for example, you can select a group of clips, hold down Ctrl and hit D 16 times, and each time it pastes, the paste cursor jumps to the end of the group of parts you just pasted - now you have your section of the looping 16 times and it took under 3 seconds

Another benefit is this can very reliably be done while the song is playing, so you can compose it on the fly without having to worry if your mouse is going to decide to paste it into the wrong place, and you can also duplicate parts that extend well beyond your current view, which comes in really handy for longs songs with a repetitive structure. Does this make sense? If not I would be happy to do a quick screencast of what I'm talking about

I suppose a different approach to this that would accomplish the same end and be just as useful is to have an option to be able to change the behavior of the paste cursor to jump to the end of the selected parts instead of pasting underneath the mouse position

What do you think?

I understand your Feature Request. On short term i'll keep things as is, sorry, but we'll see whether this FR will be sustained for a longer time by many users, then it will become a more prominent FR, then getting increased priority, and climbing in the wishlist which contains many hundreds of other FRs. Also note that you can even drag the right-side of multiple selected parts at the same time.
