On Linux, ~/ refers to your home folder.
So ~/.vst is equivalent to $HOME/.vst
If your login is "samplemania" then the full path will be: /home/samplemania/.vst/

Yes and I have to say that im my impression is that Bazille which I own seems to perform better than with Windows using the same PC.abique wrote:So I suppose that it is working now?
I am wondering how AMD systems would perform since they are supposed to work great with Linux.
With U-HE Plugins available for Linux the only thing missing would be a decent sampler.
But setting up Jack is a pain. Well...
Some guides for NOOBs are needed.

Samplemania, that's good to know
If all your project is managed by Bitwig, then you don't need jack. I don't use jack myself. You should can use ALSA directly.

hello abique
is there a possibility to compile the plugins headless for embedded arm devices?
in the near future there will be powerfull enough devices even for a standalone DIVA

Hey Foresttechnique,
That's very interesting and I've also been following the development of other cheap "distributed architecture" with very high GFLOPS, higher than the latest i7.
I think it would be technically possible but it requires some work to optimize the DSP for it, and it also has to be available and "popular".

be sure, it will be very popular. in the most standard repositorys for embedde linux versions are already lots of audio stuff. indeed i hope too that the dsp features of interresting SOC's become easily accesable like the OMAP from TI

Some desktop managers let you right-click in a file requestor, to see and choose fromsamplemania wrote:Again...abique wrote:The plugins are installed in ~/.u-he
Also the VST are installed to ~/.vst/u-he
Where? What is the full path?
While I installed Linux/Ubuntu several times I am not familiar with the OS folder structure as some others here.
hidden files, and file manager prefs will let you choose to keep hidden files visible. Or offer a key-combo to toggle things. Safer and more useful in linux, than in windows.
.jackdrc is a text file saved by qjackctl, with your chosen settings. Yours will be a bit different, but it's handy to read the man page, and know your options.
/usr/bin/jackd -P89 -dalsa -r44100 -p256 -n2 -D -Chw:M2496,0 -Phw:M2496,0

Cheers

I'm not sure how the reply above is any answer to the question at all, so I'll just post a second reply:
Tilde ("~") is the common symbol (in the unix world) for that users "home" directory on the system, usually it is /home/<username>.
So if your username is "samplemania" the full path would then be /home/samplemania/.u-he/ etc.

Yeaah Presswerk!
I have tried presswerk and one thing I have found is that the GUI is kinda slow (compared with satin and the others).
For example when i turn a knob with the mouse wheel there's a little delay before it actually turns. Also I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like after i insert an instance of presswerk, the whole system gets sluggish, scrolling in the daw etc and even if i switch to the internet browser it lags there too. And the dsp load is only at 9%.
This happens both in Bitwig 1.1 and Ardour 3.5.403 (in newest nightly build also)
(Sorry bad explanation in bad english
)
Ubuntu 14.04 64bit
But other than that fabolus sound and the gui looks exellent
Again, really nice to see linux ports!
Thanks
