Maybe to get some focus of what we are talking about: here's example of modern EDM track.
Come on, this is hardly a music.

I'm feeling a movement; me bowels are on fire
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

I still almost never hear any of this kinda dance music people on kvr call EDM. I hear more of it here in these repeating rants than anywhere else. And I don't bother playing the examples any more.
Down with the TV & Radio! God bless the internet! Now I don't have to sift through stuff I don't like to find the myriad things I do, and often I can go straight to the person who made it and give them some money for it.

I hate it when people make music I don't like and I have to not listen to it. Only genres that I like should be popular. I blame Obama.

Along the lines of motive, maybe it helps to address just who is making this music?
In the past, if a kid likes Metallica; they buy a guitar and learn to play...Metallica mainly, but as they practice and progress, hopefully they'll start to incorporate some other stuff, start putting together their own licks, etc.
Nowadays, if a kid likes Martin Garrixx, Calvin Harris, Avicii or any of those guys, all they need to do is go on Youtube and watch a few videos - open Garageband, visit some forums, find out what samplepacks and synth settings were being used, and they can make a track sounding just like some of those other guys - vastly simplified argument but you get the idea.
If they want to share their stuff, get some feedback, or just revel in the "hey I did something!" feeling, they're not going to post it at Neowin, DeviantArt or MoneySavingExpert.com....I hope. They're going to head for one of the biggest communities of "electronic" musicians on the net that they can find (you decide if it's KVR, not saying it is).
So I suppose the Cafe is always going to be a reflection of the zeitgeist, filtered through the participating community.
I could be wrong; I usually am (says my wife). Just my two cents.

In fact it is music, it's bad music IMHO, but it's still music.DJ Warmonger wrote:Maybe to get some focus of what we are talking about: here's example of modern EDM track.

Maybe there's people who like that kind of stuff.
People like Napalm Death, people like Throbbing Gristle, people like Stockhausen, etc.
Others don't. Who's right, who's wrong?

Sounds more like a demo reel for someone's latest preset pack but not nearly as bad as I was expecting.DJ Warmonger wrote:Maybe to get some focus of what we are talking about: here's example of modern EDM track.

A bit of techno, wubstep, 4/4
Nothing exciting going on tho.
Probably only works on the ears of 14 year olds preferably at bowel moving volume.
Now ae ganz Graf is a good example of good hard modern techno but then that's a decade old now !
That still makes me want to leap onto a table and head bang the same way Slayer' Angel of Death does
Maybe the problem is that the majority of Kvr commenters are over 30 and only the nipplesuckers post music in the cafe
