The elevators ventilation system we have has a musical note to them at times.

It is now, I guess.

I sometimes stop to listen to a badly-running refrigeration unit, or a humming transformator station.

[At this time usually someone posts the Youtube video with 10 hours of white noise] :P

You don't know? IMNSHO, that's really a core part of the problem. By problem, I simply mean KVR's problem, I'm not trying to make a grand statement. I'll just come flat out and tell you, I think I've actually said something like this before, to you even, it's not KVR. KVR is not really EDM centric in any sense of the meaning of EDM. You're not reaching YOUR audience by posting your music here.
Ha, I know. KVR is a good place to post about my sample libraries, though. But I really don't know of a good place to post tracks I'm working on to get useful technical feedback before I play them in a club.

Interesting. Could you give an example of electronic music you value for form, rhythm and melody? How about composition by 'BT' that you posted in another thread? I'm not an enthusiast of the whole area, but I'm quite curious.

And now a break with good dance music... BTW, Martin "Solveig" is a classically trained choir singer, too...

I never understood this as an argument point. I understand that now-days it's tough to find an artist who is actually talented with a live instrument (or voice) but at the same time, that doesn't stop the "computer plebes" from not making good music either. Sure, it's a little less impressive to watch a computer geek click notes in than it is for big-hair-mc-ZZBeard to rip a sweet riff off, but at the same time on a listening level, the computer geek can make just as good of music.
Take for example...Lindsey Sterling
()
Okay: so she's a trained violinist and it shows...but I still find her music droll...
(kind of a bad example of a song by her. She was known for doing "Violin Dubstep" - this track specifically is more tame, but some of her so called "Violin Dubstep" sounds just as bad on paper as it does to the ears)

egh...one more edit:

I guess what I am trying to say is: Impressive play skill does not make impressive music.

Well, why I have much sympathy for Martin "Solveig" might be due to the fact that I was in a choir, too, but in the school choir, not in the church choir...

You're right, for example, they're millions of pianists who are great in (re-)playing the pieces of other composers but they aren't able to write songs themselves. But then they're also pianists who have great songwriting skills, for example Pierluigi Giombini...
