Yeah, I get that. I'm certainly considering it every day. And every day I'm saying "let's implement that missing feature before we seed".
Until then unfortunately I can't handle another feedback channel. I've dropped email for myself, I simply can't read emails with feature suggestions, let alone answer them.

Thanks for the response.
We are all rooting for Hive to be the best that it can be.

That's a bit of a target market specific issue imo.
A dedicated separate noise oscillator would be most useful.
Perhaps if the sub oscillators could double as noise oscillators
That said, if one oscillator is "wasted" for noise, one can still have 33 sawtooth/whatsoever oscillators per voice, 2 x 16 and 1 x 1 at different pitches. Which IMHO is plenty.
An extra noise generator would certainly be cool, but it would also require extra space and CPU. I'll keep sleeping over it.
Stacking up multiple detuned oscillators with noise on top is VERY common with the other synth. I would even argue that two standard oscillators isn't even enough when you compare to how people use Spire, Sylenth, ANA etc but that architecture is already set in stone and the dedicated sub oscillators alleviate that somewhat.
In my opinion a dedicated noise oscillator is absolutely necessary now you've reminded me that if it's doubled up with the sub oscillator you lose unison/width.
Once the plugin goes to market people will nag and nag until you do it anyway given what you're aiming it towards

Up to you of course... However, it is not just about how many saws one can have. The dual channel setup lends itself to easy layering of two sounds...Urs wrote:Atm white and pink noise are waveforms of the main oscillators. For example, if I use Osc 1 to make a bell sound... and Osc 2 to layer a soft pad under it... then there is no way to add a bit of noise in either.
Seems like adding a noise waveform in the Sub's addresses that without any extra cpu, gui space etc. Is there a downside to having noise as a mono waveform in the subs?

Agreed.pdxindy wrote:

I think it's a common misconception that all dance/trance sounds begin and end with the JP8080 set to moar.

Sure, if people request noise in the subs even if it's either mono or inconsistent (as in, stereo for noise, mono for waves) I'll be happy to add it. We're also contemplating to soup the subs up for things that would kill CPU if done with unison. Such as sync, crossmod and FM. There's a myriad of possible paths to go after Hive gets its basic features set in stone. Naturally I won't promise any such thing just yet. We need to go about it as carefully as we do with the other synths.
At the moment I'm more concerned with workflow and the filter modes.

Stereo noise is useful in a lot of cases. It can fill out the top end, make pads sound more spacious, make basses sound grittier.
I would say it's important to have noise available with a high pass filter. The Nord Lead 4 has a filter with resonance that can get extreme and it makes for some really interesting sounds once mixed in with the oscillators, especially for pads.

Face it, they gave up on dance and steal all their music from the previous generation.zvenx wrote: (I am 50 years old so its hard for me to understand, but each generations music and dance is hardly appreciated by the previous generation)

As for being a generation, maybe they'll become one someday...
Nothing new, nothing to see except boring.
This is the first generation to make the older generations laugh.
(In my first year of being a test electrician, I danced like that too, but only after a 440v/full amp push.).
