No, we didn't. I've never used pirated software.

There was never a reason for you to pirate. It's simply because you lack morals and a proper upbringing. :smack:

It's really shocking how perky people can get when they feel comfortable in the anonymity of the web...

And music? What about films? E-Books? Really, never got a gift from a friend with pirated stuff? Hard to believe actually. Even my mom has 1 or 2 pirated things. :P

Worst thing is though they give us Pastafarians a bad reputation.

The hammer is coming down in the USA there's a company that works with internet providers they find out your location and what you downloaded and it's your internet provider that sends you the fine if you don't pay they cut your internet off. If you do pay the fine is shared 50/50 between these companies. Uk has refused this tactic so it can't be used there I bet that goes for all of Europe.

I don't hate people for it though. The Uk has a problem keeping food banks toped up due to the government putting disabled people on to the work abled lists and then the job centre staff cutting peoples unemployment benefits for the most stupid reasons. A politician this week has said 96% of advertised jobs are temp jobs and nearly 9 million employed people are in temporary work.

Nope. You're welcome to search all 4 of my computers. You won't find one pirated mp3, video or any pirated software or files at all. Because I have morals........whether you find that hard to believe or not.

There is a guy at work who bragged that he had so many pirated songs he had to buy another hard drive and in our jobs we get paid to catch people who might be stealing from the company. The irony is incredible. Problem is even the bosses don't understand that stealing intellectual property is no different morally than stealing money........

Same here.

But I wouldn't dare say I never watched a borrowed pirated DVD or compiled a "best-of" cassette tape.

I would and can dare to say that I've never watched a borrowed pirated DVD. I have made copies of the physical CD's I've purchased for my own use (iPod). That falls under Fair Use laws........

Good stuff. Also a point, apart from the "moral responsibility", if you want, is, that warez are a hoard for malware and viruses these days. I recently browsed through some old CD's, hailing from the days when i still used warez, and my virus scanner literally went nuts. Immediately recycled the sh**. :)

Personally, i wonder why even on sites like these, where the dev's and users are in an active exchange about stuff related to the software, there are a few people still propagating warez, or even asking for support for those. Seems like for a few, the thought of people having worked for, and deserving to get paid for what they use is still somewhat foggy.

Yeah.

When I bought my sampler in, hmmm, 1990, the store gave me a "sound pass". I could go to the store and copy any floppy I wanted, only my budget for empty floppies was the limit. I was convinced this was a special service paid for by the store, not an illegal marketing ploy to lure more customers. It's however ridiculous from today's perspective. Awareness has definitely changed, and muchly so because of the internet.

Never taped some music from the radio as a child or swapped cassettes on the school ground? (Don't know how old you are). Never copied a page from a copyrighted book?

Funny thing though, in Germany e.g. it is allowed to make copies from bought music (maybe games/vidz as well, don't know right now) and give them to friends (is called sth like "right to private copy"). It's not allowed to circumvent copyright protections though.

You are also allowed to rip thousands of hours of Internet radio Mp3s if you like.

I should rephrase it. Most people "pirated". I am from Holland and over here only this year downloading illigal content became illigal. So technically, it wasn't pirating at all. I did not use the pirated software in any commercial sence. But hey, i do agree with the moral point of view nowadays. I didn't when i was like 15 years old. I began buying the software when i had the money for it.
